Did the transcripts even reveal anything noteworthy? It sounded like they edited for length which is standard practice.

You know how airline passengers sometimes will overpower a belligerent asshole and detain them till the authorities show up? Federal employees need to do THAT when King Karen Ketamine and his Hackstreet Bois show up at their worksites. Then call DC cops, the ones who lived through J6.

No. I said they wouldn't have a conversation about it. Not the same thing.

No. I said they refused to engage in a conversation about it. That has nothing to do with intellect.

At no point did they say they should have voted for them- just that Trump was not the option.

I never called them stupid. I never tell students how to vote. However students engage in these conversations as they discuss content. My post was that they refused to hear criticisms of Trump or engage in conversations- with other students.

It's not my job to convince anyone of anything. My goal is to engage in conversations. Since you know everything- what's your solution then?

I'm aware of that. I had a colleague ready to move back to Lebanon only to have her village destroyed. I've never condoned or supported what has happened there.

I'm not sure how you see arrogance, but ok.

And how would I demonstrate this empathy to you? On a limited character ap? Changing my option on Trump?
comment in response to post
And you think Trump was better option?

I'll let you keep your opinions. Trump wants to expel those left in Gaza and it will cease to exist. Harris was not perfect but I still believe she was trying to negotiate a ceasefire and supported a two state solution so Gaza would exist, as devastated as it is.

You can't work in Dearborn for over a decade and not have an understanding and empathy. We encountered dialogue from everyone and people talked about the genocide. At no point have I said any of this was okay. My point remains that Trump wasn't the answer.

Again, I never said they were not justified in their asks or feelings. Trump had continued to talk about leveling the place, which is now his plan.

Faculty facilitate conversations and ask them to examine theory and evidence. The best learning comes when students engage in discussions together.

I never said they did what they should have. My point has been and remains that Trump exploited the emotions and frustrations of a group of people and convinced them that he would be better when his own words said otherwise.

Again you are taking me out of context here. All I said was Trump wasn't the answer and not even one month into his presidency he has demonstrated that.

I teach sociology. And it is never about persuasion. It's thinking critically and discussing topics. Any time another student was critical of Trump other students would shut down the conversation. They leaned into someone who is objectively an awful person.

I am aware of all of this. I never said Harris was the perfect candidate. My only point was, and remains, Trump was never the answer.

I did not say overly emotional. I said their emotions were justified. My only point has been that Trump was not the answer. This isn't gaslighting. Trump has always shown his true colors.

You are going after the wrong person here. I've never said it was ok. I never said the way it was handled was good either. But when Trump said Israel should "finish the job", he wasn't going to be the solution.
comment in response to post
I'm not disputing any of that. My only point is that Trump was not the answer.

At no point have I disputed what happened or their feelings. My only point has been that Trump was never going to be the answer.

I teach a class that requires critical thinking and politics is an entire chapter. And I never said their emotions weren't justified. They certainly were.

Good call on the coffee. I need to add that to the list. I'm guessing spices and canned veggies and tomatoes too. My goodness I hate feeling like a doomsday prepper.

I stopped watching the TV show scandal during the first Trump administration because it was too close to reality. But it seems like they stole the plot. And Musk's starlink was utilized. Trump said Musk knows a lot about voting machines. 🤔

Teaching in Dearborn last fall was a trip. They were raging at Harris/ Biden and leaned into Trump. They wouldn't even entertain critical thought on it. I understand their anger but Trump was never going to be the answer (and said so).

We vacation in Leamington/ Kingsville pretty frequently and use the Toronto airport for international travel. I'm most familiar with Toronto and South. I will definitely get to work on this.

I started looking for jobs in Windsor earlier. I may need to broaden my search to Ontario.
