That’s also a good option for anyone who’s able (and willing!) to carry their bike. Did you try the new layout on Putney bridge yet, to see if it’s any better?

As with many local issues it can often help to let your councillor know where your face obstacles when cycling. You can find your local councillor and how to contact them here: www.wandsworth.gov.uk/the-council/...

They are a huge barrier for adapted cycles and cargo bikes. We have heard from parents who can no longer cycle their kids to school as their cargo bike does not fit and they consdier the surrounding roads to be too dangerous. As we understand the council plans to reduce the barriers though.

Similarly for a recently proposed quiet cycle route through Wandsworth Common. More respondents said they ‘strongly like’ the proposal than ‘strongly dislike’, yet the council shelved their plan after the consultation wandsworthquietroutes.commonplace.is/en-GB/propos...

Interestingly the council does not treat consultations as referendums when the responses threatens motonormativity. A recent consultation on local matters showed a clear support to reduce car-dependency. Yet the council still needs to fully acknowledge this neighbourhoodrenewalfund.commonplace.is

We've chased it up again and agree that there needs to be a better way to report this to @transportforlondon.bsky.social and local councils.

For those interested in the details, you can find the full data here: roadtraffic.dft.gov.uk/manualcountp... Hammersmith Bridge closed to motor traffic in April 2019, so 2018 is the last year it was fully operational.

Instead of returning to car dominance, Possible proposes reopening the bridge for public transport, cyclists, and pedestrians. It’s cheaper, less damaging, and creates quieter, safer neighbourhoods, especially for Barnes and Putney. www.wearepossible.org/latest-news/...

You’re right, they won’t do anything, but it’s always good to report so they are aware of incidents like this one

That is really scary, we’re so sorry you had to experience it. We’re glad you’re safe, but no one should have to deal with that, especially on this already sketchy bike lane. Did you report it to the police? Stay safe out there 🚲

Thanks for reaching out, @origmarm.bsky.social. We did not have time during this meeting, but we brought it up before and continue to push for action. The missing wands are likely linked to the Thames Water works, as a lot of wands were removed but not replaced.

Looks lovely and shows how affordable active transport infrastructure can be. In south London, we’re hoping to get a simple short bridge along a Thames tributary. Costs would be minuscule compared to vanity projects like the garden bridge, but it would benefit many www.change.org/p/fix-the-mi...
