Authors and readers are regarded as pretentious and dangerous to the well-being of society. Montag meets many characters that change his outlook on life such as Clarisse and Faber.” -Quoted from wikipedia entry of Guy Montag. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Mon...

Schools no longer teach the humanities, children are casually violent, and adults are constantly distracted by "seashells" (small audio devices resembling earbuds) and insipid television programs displayed on wall-sized screens.

I suppose I am suggesting folks start building small libraries like that even if you rent. Am also glad the guest room of our house is also our “library” with 4 full bookcases on all the things my wife & I love and have had interest in over the years.

Where at worst, you learn how shit works enough to either fix it yourself or with your new found knowledge know you gotta call a professional. Books explaining basics of electricity, plumbing, wood working, speed & steel squares and so forth. I value having those hard reference copies.

Within the space of 6 months during our first year in the home both my dad and last living grandpa died. Those were the last 2 men in my world that were major teachers & sharers on life and how to do things. So I started buying books from the 50s thru 90s on home improvement type things.

I keep meaning to learn how to shoot a gun as I never have still. Gonna take The Whang’s beautiful old rifle somewhere to be serviced as according to George’s account, it hasn’t been fired since the early 1970’s.
