“Should these pillars collapse, autocratic and illiberal forces have their own playbook and are prepared to rebuild the American political system in their own fashion, fundamentally reshaping the foundations of power and governance.” Worth the time to read and take next steps to defend democracy.

This is your mission. We take our power back now at the local and state level. Stop waiting for a national hero. It’s you. Get to work.

On the first day of Trump’s first term, there was no AOC, no Maxwell Frost, no Mallory McMorrow or Anna Eskamani — the leaders who will take us forward from here weren’t on our collective radar this time 8 years ago. We may feel rudderless but a lot can & will change fast, maybe for the better.

"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”

I wish these tech bro billionaires would stop making their mid life crises everyone else’s problem.

Bingo: “When you bring politics to the local level, you are forced to look at policies and how the policies your local lawmakers voted for impact you.” Read the rest of Jess Piper’s perspective as a rural progressive organizer in the GOP supermajority state of Missouri:

A way to think about "AI" is that it's like single-use plastic: Super-convenient, sold as disposable, designed to be used without much thought, and while it's easy to get annoyed with your mom for using it, the real problem are the dudes destroying the planet in order to keep shoveling it out

There is a hole in the world, a void, an emptiness, shaped like the art you haven't made yet.

The party that tells young people not to bother with college, bans books, and wants to disband the Department of Eduction is currently annoyed that American workers aren't educated enough for skilled jobs.

My New Year’s Resolution. What’s yours?

Brief thread on how we got here: Since the GOP won control of the House 2 years ago they have not passed a single appropriations package into law. Government has operated at funding levels set by Dems 2 years ago via continuing resolutions every few months. This is not normal.

Progress happens when people step up and make it happen. 💪

True servant leadership is being unafraid to meet people where they are and actually listen to what they have to say. JFK and RFK understood the assignment.
