Were the votes of the 3 Republicans needed or not needed?
Why are you giving a pass to the 40% of Dems that didn't vote for even though they represent districts where it directly impacts the lives of their constituents?

The article that I skimmed pretty clearly stated that the 30% was the key but the NE have 0% of Republicans willing to do that. Seems to me that all the Dems that are NIMBYs as well are a problem.

Uh, did you read the article? He literally goes through how Republicans shouldn't be taken at face value and that we need a better debate on the issue.

Blocking me just says that you don't have any good answers to the question. You aren't fighting for liberty and justice for all people. You are just spouting nonsense nonstop. There's a whole lot of people that are using transgenders, lesbians, and gays to advance their political agendas.

Either you have some alternative to democracy that you believe is better or democracy is underthreat and needs to be saved. If its under threat, the only answer is that there are two genders.

How many genders are there?

Elected officials have a say in the compromise. The people protesting in California are making things worse.

Who in society is doing the hard work of changing people's minds? I don't think people understand the influence that the core of American protestant christianity (Baptists, Methodist, Presbyterians) had on changing hearts and minds. It wasnt exclusionary. It wasnt inclusive language used to exclude.

You back up this statement by not losing to Donald J. Trump.

Japanese internment and civil rights were two of his examples from the article.

At least go approval voting. RCV is the worst of all worlds.

At some point, you have to govern and pass bills versus shitposting and claiming you can find $2T of fraud.

So my property tax appeal will be more successful two years from now?

But isn't it the case that the "good guys" winning elections kind of quintessentially required for a democracy to work well? It seems to take your position seriously, we need to discuss what you feel is the alternative to democracy.

What do you feel Matt has done that has caused our institutions of higher education to be where they are?

The Mill Institute seems like a bad fit for UATX. Harvard should hire her.

She didn't appreciate that the pendulum swinging the other way doesn't mean that it's in the middle, it means its on the other side (esp at UATX). We aren't moving to a let's have free debate but rather to let's police this differently. It's sort of like she didn't take her own argument seriously.

Why would it? DOGE only found $150B dollars. Very likely its not that high.

Why would I be weird based on this comment? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think there's anything weird about it.

At some point, you aren't voting on the value, but just weighing actual results.

I don't subscribe to NYMag, but from the outside looking in, it doesn't feel like #3. I'm going #4, he's pro-Israel.

State laws dictate vaccines schedules from my opinion. It definitely is state law that decides exemptions for Kindergartenrs.

What's the solution here? Convince the Russians to give up a strategic military base? If Biden wanted to do that, he should flooded Ukraine with weapons, but he did the opposite. He slow walked Ukr all the way. It's time to stop supporting a low level conflict that we don't intend to try and win.
comment in response to

British troops to enforce a compromise that is reached with Russia seems like an unrealistic expectation. They have indicated that NATO countries in Ukr is unacceptable to them. It also seems pretty likely to be something that could trigger a larger war in the long term.

It's just blatantly not fair to have allowed the transwoman to compete against these women. I'm not denying the existance of trans people, you're denying reality of biological sex.
comment in response to
post
I'm fine with saying she is a transwoman. She is not a woman woman. If we are going to have women sports, then they need to be women. Biological sex is not a social construct.
comment in response to
post
I believe trans people exist. Not only that, I believe they deserve to be treated w/respect. Just like everyone else. But that doesn't mean that I should have to deny the reality of the situation. Men shouldn't compete in women's sports.
I don't see how my position isn't the decent and fair one.

We can debate what we think of it, we can have our own opinions about topics, but we should be able to agree on what was actually happening.

Tired of people not taking voters concerns seriously and then getting beaten. These people are voters and their concerns about trade, immigration, abortion, autism and (insert topic here) are all things that should be considered valid, acceptable things to say. You don't get to just dismiss people.

Making unpersuasive arguments about vaccines just solve the problem of getting people vaccinated.

That's just not what they should hear. They should hear that people are concerned about their health. That's a completely reasonable thing to be concerned about. Wake up!

We are equal in the eyes of God, but the interests of Americans have to be given priority. Because we need to win elections! USAID has really bad projects, hard to defend. The fact that a lot of them are high benefit to the global poor means we should have been more attentive to popular support.

Doesn't it feel like repeal and replace? Trump talking up points that make it harder to pass the bill. All this cutting of programs weakens support. Difference is the budget has to pass. Nobody is goign to want to own the final deal IMO. Not sure how they get to something.
