Where are the lawsuits? Newsom said CA would file one, but I haven't seen evidence of that yet. Does ACLU have standing to file?

Well put, and this is how I explain Trump's obsession with tariffs. He doesn't care how they work, all he sees is revenue coming into the US Treasury, which he thinks is his money.

That's how this admin works. Put people with very strong views wholly unfounded in any factual basis in charge of specific agencies. And Trump is the epitome of this practice with his bonkers take on our 21st century economy.

We paid El Salvador $6 million to take these 238 men. It's a contractual relationship, not a diplomatic one. We should be able to tell our contractor to return any one of them.

Hegseth gave divisions less than a week to assess hundreds of thousands of civilian employee roles. Those assessments are going to be very subpar.

It's insane to expect that Vietnam, for example, a country with a sliver of the US population, is going to purchase as much from us as we from them. Trump and Bessent didn't even bother to consider per capita when they AIed their trade calculation.

Thank you for writing this bill. Being at the whim if a single person who doesn't understand the 21st century economy is insane. Decisions that affect our economy on such a huge scale need to be made with expert input and real consideration.

Where's the money coming from being used to pay El Salvador to imprison these immigrants?

Can't figure out who's stupider, Tuberville or Mullin.

I met Elon many years ago when Tesla was launching the Model S. He wasn't "one of the most gentle creatures and sweet men". He was kind of weird and awkward, and mostly talked about the car. Didn't see signs of him going full Nazi at the time, that must be from the Ketamine.

Patel also wants to fire every FBI agent that took part in the Jan 6 investigations, which is like 75% of the force. They were investigating actual criminal behavior on federal property, much of it violent. Not investigating would have been a breech of public trust.

That's my feeling. I get that people are trying to figure out why someone would make so many stupid decisions, but at the end of the day, Occam's Razor: the most likely explanation is that Trump is an idiot.

Yep, Musk is not a likable or popular guy among the MAGA crowd. Not only do we need to make him the face of budget cuts, but we can spread the narrative that he's usurping Trump.

For writing tasks, there's a very real danger that younger folks rely on AI for their research. The problem with that is AI cannot discern truth from fiction, it just goes by a preponderance of training data. If most of it's training data says the world is flat, it will tell you the world is flat.

How come Trump besties Bove and Miller look exactly like ghouls? I mean, they don't need Halloween costumes, kids must be running in fright from them all the time.

My Google Map said "Gulf of America" so I reported the data error to Google

Musk has bought into the lie, unquestioningly, that there is a lot of government waste. His statements suggest he really believes that government could be run more efficiently and cost trillions less. But there are already safeguards against waste. He just thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Given they are NIH, they should just post signs saying Quarantine: Ebola Outbreak and lock the doors when the DOGE children show up.

And Musk flunky Tom Krause can now cut checks to himself directly from Treasury
comment in response to post
What’s worse, Tom Krause, the chief executive Cloud Software Group and a Musk flunky, is funneling money from the Treasury directly into his own accounts.

And make sure to use the Suggest an Edit feature of Google Maps when you see Gulf of America, to let them know that it's actually called the Gulf of Mexico

You're not crazy, you're preserving your sanity. Smarter to pay attention to what he actually does, instead of all the blather.

I've recently found many writers using the past perfect tense when the simple past tense should be used. So many ChatGPT's training data has been infected by overall bad writing.
