Our first BioBox has been delivered to our Community Champions, Greening Steyning! Packed with ecological surveying equipment—from bat detectors to binoculars—each piece offers opportunities to get involved and helps us better understand the wildlife and habitats along the Weald to Waves corridor.

Across the UK, ponds are bubbling with amphibian activity, but how are frogs, toads, and newts faring in Sussex? @arc-trust.bsky.social are collecting vital data on amphibians—and they need our help along Weald to Waves. 📷 Ian Harris

We've all heard that nature is great for mental health, but research shows that visiting places with high biodiversity is even better! If you're looking for ways to get outside and support nature recovery, join us for the final few days of volunteering with the #ScrublandSuperheroes project.

Toads commonly emerge at dusk after damp, mild weather, so we expect to start seeing their migration in the next few days. The #ToadsOnRoads project by Frog Life seeks volunteers to protect toads crossing roads. Join via the link in our bio to help save the future of toads! 📷Ryan Greaves

Last weekend, we were thrilled to connect with so many nature enthusiasts at the Sussex Biological Recorders' Seminar 2025! It was a great opportunity to showcase our BioBoxes and hear inspiring talks from other nature recovery projects. Thank you to @lbfew.bsky.social for supporting this project.

The Weald to Waves team recently enjoyed a sunny day visiting the William Robinson Gravetye Charity in the northern part of the corridor. The charity manages William Robinson's estate, a pioneer in 'wild' gardening. They engage groups in nature education and habitat creation through work parties.

Join Paul Stevens as he shares his expertise on protecting Swifts, Swallows, Sand & House Martins. Explore the ecology and importance of these iconic birds, with practical tips on making your homes, parishes, and land holdings a welcoming habitat. First of the two talks tomorrow: ow.ly/QX6p50V1aMm

Cold morning yesterday, but warmed by partnerships at Wiston Estate! Ian Rogers and Gareth Williams from Weald to Waves met Penny Green, Wiston's new ecologist. The nearby Lapwing plot, funded by Farming in Protected Landscapes, is in its first year, aiming to boost lapwing and wader populations.

It’s that time of year—frog and toad spawn is appearing across the UK, and the Fresh Water Habitats Trust is running the #SpawnSurvey! As you can see, the first results are in! Everyone can take part! Your records are submitted to Record Pool, the UK’s reptile and amphibian database. Link in bio.

There are many exciting success stories from land managers, gardeners, and conservationists, both large and small, across Sussex and beyond. We are thrilled to launch our Weald to Waves events calendar to share knowledge and experience across our corridor! Find more details via our bio link.

We are Weald to Waves, creating a nature recovery corridor across Sussex, connecting fragmented landscapes to boost biodiversity, capture carbon, enhance food production, and enrich rural economies. Led by land managers, we collaborate with councils, gardeners, charities, schools, and communities.

Get involved in nature recovery locally! Join a Scrubland Superheroes volunteering day to help restore Sussex’s scrubland. No experience needed, and free tea, coffee, and snacks provided. It’s a great way to support nature alongside like-minded people. #NatureRecovery #Sussex #Volunteer
