ACT NOW: Tasmania's Maugean skate has survived since the age of dinosaurs—but destructive salmon farming could soon wipe it out. Sign the petition today to save Tasmania's precious ecosystem. act.weplanet.org/tasmanian-sa...

Chris Bowen says that nuclear waste is non-recyclable - this is false. Used nuclear fuel can be recycled into fuel for the future. We did the calculations and found that the used fuel stored across Europe could power the entire EU for 1000 years at current demand. www.weplanet.org/whatawaste

"Many people are frightened of radiation, thinking of it as an invisible, man-made and deadly force, and this fear often underpins opposition to nuclear power. In fact, most radiation is natural and life on Earth wouldn’t be possible without it." theconversation.com/were-all-rad...

The global nuclear industry is expected to triple by 2050. ⚛️ Uranium mined in South Australia is Australia’s biggest clean energy export but mining it is currently prohibited in Western Australia. Demand Premier Roger Cook lift the moratorium on uranium mining. act.weplanet.org/lift-wa-uran...

We're disappointed to see @foe.org.au using the anniversary of the Fukushima nuclear accident to exploit people's trauma and fears to push an agenda which doesn’t align with the scientific evidence.

Happy International Women's Day! To celebrate why not check out our fireside chat between three incredible women fighting for clean energy and a better future.

The Australian debate on nuclear energy has gotten ugly. With personal attacks on advocates, political attack ads and misinformation flowing directly from the halls of parliament. Join us tomorrow morning to speak with two incredible women to cut through the spin & separate fact from fiction.

Curious about nuclear energy, but Australia’s polarised debate got you down? If you’d like to hear from two nuclear energy advocates who are in it because they care about people and the planet, join @weplanetaus.bsky.social’s online fireside chat this Monday.

I'm looking forward to chatting with these legends of nuclear advocacy on Monday morning! Australia's bitter partisan debate has drifted far from the point: cleaning up our energy system. Come along for a refreshing look at what this clean, reliable energy source can offer us. 9am AEST / 10am AEDT

Yesterday Matt Kean said that the Coalition's nuclear plan would drop a 2 billion tonne 'carbon emissions bomb' on our emissions targets. But its not nuclear that's contributing to these emissions - it's coal and gas. 🧵

Here's the question we submitted for @albomp.bsky.social ahead of tonight's #qanda. It didn't make it onto the show but share if you'd like to hear his answer.

Nuclear energy is the most dangerous form of energy ever invented - right? What if everything you thought you knew about nuclear energy was wrong and fixing the climate crisis required you to rethink what you thought you knew? Former Extinction Rebellion organiser Joel Scott-Halkes explains.

Join us for our second fireside chat about nuclear energy with special international guests Paris-Ortiz-Wines and Heather Hoff. Both are passionate advocates for clean energy & helped save California's last remaining nuclear plant. RSVP: www.weplanetaustralia.org/event-detail...

The most common objection we get to nuclear energy is, "What about the waste?" We’re always happy to tell people that we ❤️ nuclear waste. Small volumes, safely stored and managed, and naturally reducing over time. But the best part is, it’s not waste at all - watch to find out why.

It’s incredibly easy for misinformation to spread, even among well-meaning people. This is because misinformation often feels true or contains an element of truth while misrepresenting the complete picture. Thanks @climatetown.bsky.social for breaking down the misinformation from Landman.

Excited to be speaking with these two icons tomorrow night. This event is for you if you want nuclear energy, or if you don't want nuclear energy, or if you're not sure if you want nuclear energy! ⚛️ (1/3) www.weplanetaustralia.org/event-detail...

Farming is a tough job & it's only getting tougher as our climate changes. But what if there was a better way to feed 10 billion people, one that didn't involve hardship, slaughtering animals or wrecking the environment? There is, as @georgemonbiot.bsky.social explains.

Australian states & territories, apart from Victoria & Western Australia, still allow the logging of our native forests – putting our climate and biodiversity at great risk. We’ve got to send a clear message that Australians want to see this come to an end. act.weplanet.org/end-native-f...

"If zero-emissions nuclear replaced fossil gas as the grid’s back-up technology even as we continue our renewable build-out, Australia’s climate goals might be the beneficiary." johnmenadue.com/nuclears-fat...

🎉 Happy Year of the Snake! 🐍 The broad-headed snake is a critically endangered species only found in the Sydney basin & surrounds. A project is underway to increase their numbers with a captive breeding program. With effort & support, we can expect 2025 to bring good fortune to this little guy!

Nuclear energy is a hot topic right now in Australia, and with all the political spin, it’s hard to separate fact from fiction. So get ready to cut through the noise and uncover the truth with two special international guests. RSVP: www.weplanetaustralia.org/event-detail...

We 💚nuclear 'waste'! ✅ Billions of tonnes of avoided greenhouse gas emissions ✅ Safely managed ✅ Fuel for the future

Australia's biodiversity is a point of pride for many Aussies & a major drawcard for our tourism industry. But our environmental laws, which fail to adequately balance biodiversity protection and human activities, increasingly put our biodiversity at risk. 1/2

Join us for a fireside chat about nuclear energy with two special international guests. We'll dig into the facts & politics of nuclear energy. RSVP: www.weplanetaustralia.org/event-detail...

Less guilt, more electrification. But let’s be honest, no one wants to feel guilty for simply trying to live their best life. WePlaneteer Rob explains how we can maintain high standards of living while tackling climate change by electrifying everything with abundant, clean energy.

Australia's anti-nuclear movement still hasn’t learned that The Simpsons isn’t real. Their latest stunt featured a giant inflatable three-eyed fish, straight out of the show. In the real world, nuclear energy is a proven source of clean, reliable power that can help us achieve our climate goals.

According to the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), 2024 was 1.6C warmer than pre-industrial times, easily beating the previous record year of 2023. We urgently need to reduce emissions and address climate change by phasing out fossil fuels and shifting to alternative proteins.

Happy New Year! Our team is back, ready to tackle 2025 with renewed energy. We're committed to transforming our food and energy systems to safeguard the climate and restore ecosystems, while ensuring secure, sustainable food and energy for everyone. Let’s drive change, together.

A Survey of energy sector professionals has found that 67% believe nuclear will have a role in Australia's energy mix within the next 25 years with 78% saying they wanted to see it happen, with reliability & environmental benefits cited as the primary reasons for supporting nuclear.

It's time for Chris Minns to end barbaric Greyhound Racing in NSW. NSW already banned greyhound racing once but repealed it after caving to pressure from the industry. It's time for the government to put an end to this cruel industry once and for all. Sign the petition linked below.
