The premise of the show (including TOS) is a multicultural, classless, moneyless society that has focused all of its energy into science and exploration for the betterment of everybody. The wars they get involved in are not wars of conquest. If that's not space communism I don't know what would be.

Funny enough I didn't finish my philosophy degree and ended up doing data analysis instead.

About 17 years ago, I took a Logic class as a requirement for a philosophy degree. It was also required in the Pre-Law and Computer Science programs. Understanding the building blocks of an argument was considered necessary for philosophy, law, and computers. Always thought that was interesting.

If birthrates are unsustainably low in particular places in the world — a real problem — the easiest solution we have yet devised is to have people from other parts of the world move there. This track record of this approach has been phenomenal.

What even is the value of citizenship in this situation? If courts have no power, none of us are citizens.
