This infrastructure creates prosperity. The average car costs $12,544 annually—fuel, insurance, maintenance, depreciation, financing, and parking—most of which leaves the community. For every 15,000 vehicles a city reduces its rate of ownership, $127 million remains in the local economy each year.

The snow near the curb hasn't been plowed well where people typically park during the day, so drivers are parking perhaps a foot or more away from the curb on both sides. Seems like maybe the street is too wide since it's been fine.

Hang with me ... ZOOM in, photos by @les_parisiennes_a_velo (Instagram) documenting the story of Parisian women on bikes. Equality is freedom & biking is for everyone. #paris #urbanism #15minutecity #bikes #women #equality #womenbiking #art #streetart #womensequality #womensrights #photography

When asked about the invention of the sharrow, Denver engineer James Mackay, its creator, said: "I was always under pressure to do less."

Was doing an errand the other day and passed two women on a walk and chat. They loved the cargo bike and said “it’s like Amsterdam!” Hope to live long enough for it to not be novel, honestly. People just need to know it’s possible, it seems. Excitement for it everywhere you go, young and old.

And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

It's not complicated.

Fat biking on a gorgeous -20°C day in the subarctic wilderness across the river from Churchill, Manitoba.

Winter makes our transportation priorities so clear: Street: perfectly clear Taxpayer subsidized (“free”) on street car storage: almost perfectly clear Bikeway: doesn’t exist here Sidewalk: covered in snow w/ hundreds of footprints almost 2 weeks after the last snowfall. #PlowMPLSsidewalks

Biked to the skating .. thing. No cleared path there of course so biking was tricky but made it work.

New plan to fight back against private insurance denials: Doctors when you plan to retire, go get hired by UHC, Anthem, etc, and then once you are in the door, approve absolutely everything until you are fired.

This is literally the street I live on. I can’t stress enough how much of an improvement this has made to my life.

This is the lesson for every single organization, college, or business that bends the knee: "you buy nothing but disdain from your base/users/clients/customers."

Trump's lawyers are absolutely flailing in the courts right now

100% and I need everyone to understand right now that there is only one solution: people need to start getting their asses kicked in public again

the emotional logic of fascism

Just spend a moment looking around this photo of a woman waiting at a very high utilization bus line in WFB. Might be going to the mall/grocery ~10 blocks away. What jumps out? Will add some in the thread.. see any others? This is reckless indifference by our local leaders.

We could do a temp version of this on almost the entirety of Marlborough if our leaders cared

A grim aspect of how we report crashes is that officer jots down some brief notes and judgements and it really doesn’t get revisited. “Car v bike” hits different than “driver not looking and driving too fast in a poorly engineered intersection runs over 11 year old kid with no other way to school”

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

New supplement to the Highway Code...

#BikeSky Isn’t a Cult, It’s a Community We won’t ask for blind faith or total commitment. Whether you ride daily or just when you can, you’re welcome here. There’s no “perfect” way to ride. We celebrate all kinds of cyclists, whether commuting, exercising, or just enjoying a leisurely ride.

Be the municipal sidewalk plowing you want to see in the world... and buy this impressive beast! 😍 #PlowMPLSsidewalks

Thought this was a bus stop at first – actually covered Bike parking. Long Island City.

Amazing how all new projects will HEAVILY emphasize how happy drivers will be once we pull so many drivers off the street and put them on bikes in our vast new separated bike lanes instead!

This is what drivers on the interstate are worried about, apparently.
