Today we honor Juneteenth by celebrating Black joy and liberation, while committing to continue fighting relentlessly for racial and economic justice.

The WGAE joins the @AFLCIO.org and 29 unions in urging Senators to remove ban on State-level AI accountability laws from the budget reconciliation bill. Read the full release and letter to Senators here:

"Back in April, WGA members at CBS News’ over 270 member bargaining unit voted to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement with the network. However, CBS News Digital employees [...] have yet to receive the same protections."

The following is a statement from the WGAE marking one year of bargaining at CBSNews.com. Fair contract now!

Union A-Z: Firing a union worker who's covered by Just Cause protections, without a justifiable reason for their discharge? Not 'round here, partner!

Despite ITV America's continued refusal to show up to bargaining on time and ready to negotiate in good faith, we're continuing to fight for our members. Read more via The Hollywood Reporter: www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/bus...

Union A-Z: Did you know union contracts can help make sure you keep creative control, and get credit and compensation from your Intellectual Property?

Last week, Seth Meyers and his writing team -- Alex Baze, Sal Gentile, Jenny Hagel, Seth Reiss, and Mike Scollins -- hosted an in-studio conversation for their fellow WGAE members. The full event recording is now available via YouTube! youtu.be/lDpNEiojsk8?...

Happy Father's Day to all our union dads and father figures!

Thank you all SO MUCH for your support. Our incredible Bargaining Committee worked into the night for us and reached a Tentative Agreement at around 5am! 🙏💪🥳🎉 As of now there will be NO STRIKE! Please continue enjoying all our work, knowing you all helped us get here! #unionstrong #voxunion #1u

Had a great time talking about @latenightseth.bsky.social with @wgaeast.bsky.social! Here's the video if you wanna watch but the gist is Mike Shoemaker doesn't allow eye contact. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDpN...

BREAKING: The @voxmediaunion.bsky.social reached a tentative agreement with management on a new 3-year collective bargaining agreement! The 250-member unit will vote to ratify the contract in the coming days. As a deal has now been reached, there will not be any pickets outside Vox Media’s office.

We stand in solidarity with the members of @voxmediaunion.bsky.social. A fair contract isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. #faircontractNOW #unionstrong

We are ready to strike tomorrow if we don't get a deal by 11:59pm. We are at the table, it's far beyond time for management to be serious with us here.

Proud to stand 10 toes down with my comrades in the union. All we want is a fair deal

America’s unions stand in solidarity with @voxmediaunion.bsky.social as they fight for the fair contract they deserve ✊

We stand in solidarity with the @voxmediaunion.bsky.social in their fight for the fair contract they deserve! #1u

We are proud to stand with the workers at Vox Media to demand a fair contract! And if no deal is reached tonight, we’ll see you out on the line. 👊

We stand with our peers at @voxmediaunion.bsky.social They deserve a fair contract now ✊🏻

If Vox does not give them this contract I am unleashing hell on this company

Jim Bankoff and Vox Media management: The entire digital media industry is watching very closely and expecting you to do the right thing here. There's still time

“Ninety percent of the 250-member bargaining unit voted in favor of the strike authorization. The unit includes editorial staffers at Vox.com, The Verge, Eater, SB Nation, Pop Sugar, Thrillist, Vox Media Podcast Network and The Dodo.” www.thewrap.com/vox-media-un...

We have so far been unable to reach a deal with Vox Media that includes fair pay, AI protections, competitive benefits, improved severance and layoff procedures. Should we not reach a fair contract tonight, our 250-member @VoxMediaUnion.bsky.social has overwhelmingly authorized a strike. ⏰ @vox.com

The following is a statement from the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) regarding the House vote passing H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, which cuts all current funding to public media:

If I were @vox.com and I wanted my sites to be full of good things people want to read or watch or listen to I would simply make sure that the people who make all those good things were under a fair contract so they can keep making them, but that's just me

We are ready to strike! We will strike if… … we’re not given the very basic things we’re asking for. Some protection AI. Some inflation money. Not asking for the world here. We signed up to be broke when we joined this industry. Just …. a little fairness and humanity.

If the @voxmediaunion.bsky.social does go on strike, I will not be writing anything new at @libertyballers.bsky.social or @lakerssbn.bsky.social after tomorrow until they get a fair contract. It's a good thing the NBA draft and free agency aren't rapidly approachin... oh.

Call your representative TODAY: The White House wants Congress to take back approved funds for public media including NPR and PBS. Good jobs and local and educational programming are at risk. Tell your Congressperson to vote AGAINST H.R. 4! Call (202) 224-3121

we’re ready to strike if we don’t get a good contract

“The Writers Guild of America East is so grateful to have a partner in FilmNation, which — along with all the writing and executive mentors — shares our commitment to lifting up underrepresented voices in film.” Read more via Deadline: deadline.com/2025/06/wga-...

RELEASE: Jon Schleuss, president of The NewsGuild-CWA, sounds the alarm on police violence against reporters during the LA protests. “We demand that every law enforcement agency open investigations into any officer violating the rights of journalists doing their jobs.” Journalism is NOT a crime.

With just over a day left until the @voxmediaunion.bsky.social contract expires, our members are preparing to do what it takes to reach a fair contract. The clock is ticking, @vox.com. ⏰ June 12 at 11:59pm ET

it’s sign-making day for the @voxmediaunion.bsky.social. There’s two days left in our contract, and we’re ready to strike if management isn’t willing to agree to a fair deal.

Lots of awful things happening this week, but I'm still rooting for @voxmediaunion.bsky.social to secure a fair contract! Their win helps establish industry standard practices (basic job protections against AI, higher salary floors, layoff policies, etc.), and ensures a brighter future in media.

@voxmediaunion.bsky.social is READY TO STRIKE

Our members at ITV America (Pawn Stars, Alone, The First 48) are fighting just to have management take negotiations seriously. Long delays, proposals that are below industry standards and refusal to respond is not bargaining in good faith. Fair contract now!

thank you so much to @adamconover.net for showing up for us today and reminding Vox Media management the importance of HUMAN labor

MaxFun CEO Bikram Chatterji joins folks from @defector.com, @hellgatenyc.com, and more on this panel happening tomorrow. Interested in the future of worker-led media? Drop in via Zoom and hear from the people working to make it happen.

Clock's ticking with three days left in our union contract. We started our day with some Vox Media Union solidarity courtesy of Chris Gethard, Greg Iwinski, and @wgaeast.bsky.social across the table from Vox management today!

The following is a joint statement from the WGA East and the WGA West on @SEIU.org California President David Huerta.

We're back at the bargaining table with ITV America, who has continually refused to negotiate in good faith. Our members working on beloved shows like Alone, Pawn Stars and The First 48 prove their worth season after season, & they deserve a contract that reflects their value.

ACTION ALERT: In times like these, we need public media more than ever. Congress votes TOMORROW to defund PBS. Protect public media and the jobs of 19,000+ union professionals who work on these shows! CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TODAY AT 202-224-3121 @wgaeast.bsky.social
