I think it is to be honest. There’s a lot of discourse surrounding leisure activities being stack ranked somehow by perceived value, but in the same way I would categorize reading comics, YA, and novels as the same hobby, so too do I believe watching movies and television are a hobby as well

I think for me hobby is marked by some level of progression. Whether that’s volume, such as collecting, or skill, such as crafting or sports. Gaming I see as a hobby in the same way reading books is: a collection of experiences, with both skill and volume as optional markers for progression.
