Was about to say the same thing. 1000 pounds, really? 😔

The soundtrack was always on the right music for the situation, even by accident.
That might speak to how often you were in combat though 😀

I do! I managed to pick up quite a few retro consoles in the last few years - GameCube compatible Wii, PS2 (for PS1 games too), and a Multimega!
SNES fave: Secret of Mana
GameCube fave : Xtreme G Racing
Saturn fave: Grandia!

As a jump from the NES to the Mega Drive, it seemed like magic 😀 The sheer speed of the game was amazing!
I remember thinking that if things kept improving at this pace, graphics would be unimaginable pretty soon.

It has card mechanics for actions too - more in common with Slay the Spire during combat, but you can position yourself like in X-COM.
It's a very interesting blend of a few game types 😀

I'm aiming to finish Marvel's Midnight Suns so I can get back to playing through OG Pokemon 😀
2 very different games, and they've both been a blast!

Maybe I am? No, a bot would do better at playing games in the backlog than I.

Gotta make sure all the games feel appreciated... while they sit on your hard drive...

Right! And now when the game starts up, the piano plays and it all comes flooding back.

Underrated OST. This and Season 2 (Cyberbird anyone?)

For me it was Final Fantasy X, when you get to the location from the opening title scene (no spoilers).
Up until reaching it in game, I didn't know if you could get there or the significance it would hold until that point.
And it hit hard. I also need to go back and play it again!

This. One of the best story / puzzle / novel games I've played - DS or otherwise.

I feel personally attacked 🤣
So if we will always have one, the next question is: what size should it be?

The controller was my first experience of a thumbstick - i thought it was awesome. I overlooked the controller look - it was pretty ugly - but for me it was worth playing because Nintendo brought updated versions of some of my favorite games.
Mario 64, Starfox 64, Pilotwings 64. Amazing 😀

What was your experience with the N64? Now I'm curious 😀

Is it overrated? Some part of me has to say yes. Nintendo tried a little too hard to jump to 64 bit, and the console suffered from low performance as a result.
Is it the most overrated console ever? Not even close!
Panasonic 3DO and the Atari Jaguar were arguably more hyped and fell way further!
