As economic policy, the tariffs are insane, the work of a bumbling fool. And they certainly are that too. But the Trumpists don’t see tariffs as exclusively - or even primarily - economic policy. They’re rooted in a worldview of hierarchies and tied to a broader political project seeking domination.

Been meaning to get out there for years now. Glad this museum is standing their ground.

I didn’t see many police in SLC today either. I expected a lot more. I guess they weren’t expecting 10k+ to show up.

I’ve watched it like half a dozen times now and share it often. It does explain a lot.

A lot of people like to dismiss racism as insubstantial to material realities but we’re watching a nation burn trillions of dollars in wealth to entrench a racial system of domination.

Aren’t we all? That was a tunnel under a freeway in SoCal. A lot of kids would walk through it on their way home from school as a short cut. Also a graffiti spot.

The follow up question whenever Trump talks about a third term should be, “What other parts of the constitution do you feel entitled to ignore?”

It’s especially alarming to me how many people in positions to actually do something about it just go right along and embrace the fascism

And let’s just be clear: even someone with a gang tattoo should not have been kidnapped and sent to a foreign prison (esp not without due process)

I think it can also be found in left circles. How many liberals hate the homeless. But definitely worse on the right.

My theory is it has to do with hierarchical thinking. People see themselves in a position that is below and above others. The potential success of someone below them on the ladder threatens their position. As long as those “below” them are suffering, they are better off than those on the lower rung.

And it makes them look better to have included someone who is “bottom scum” in their group chat? How pathetic can these people be.
