The brutal murder of Messiah Nantwi by corrections officers in NY reminds us that the US never needed El Salvador or CECOT to have unconstitutional death camps. The 22 yr-old was beaten til unconscious, then beaten back awake only to be finally beaten to death. One CO ran up and punted his face.

In 20 years, people will assume every white man in any position of authority is a "DEI HIRE" Because historically, and especially right now deeply unqualified white men are being placed in positions of authority.

As the author of a history of concentration camps, I would like to emphasize that this is a very bad idea, and we should definitely not do it.

Kind of crazy how the people who came from another continent and built their wealth via the transatlantic slave trade and stealing someone else's land are obsessed with wrecking their own economy in order to save it from "globalization" Child, you might want to sit down for this....

I’m seeing a lot of posts about how certain immigrants sent to El Salvador are not actually criminals and this is true but I would also like to remind you that people with criminal records shouldn’t be subjected to this, either.

You may be fearing your 401k is no longer enough for you to retire. But with all the cuts to NIH and Medicare you also won't live as long. So the policies are integrated.

Excited for all the new American banana and coffee factories.

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

it's so hard being empathetic to those who seem to lack empathy

how can we use this opportunity (liberals getting more active in protesting & activism) to radicalize more of them? could expand the voter base for things like universal health care, more regulations on landlords, higher taxes on wealthy to fund social programs, and class consciousness in general

Ukraine and our failure to live up to our agreement to defend them if they gave up their nukes is such a reinforcement that countries should 1) get nukes and 2) never give them up if we try to push denuclearization at this point ppl should just point at us and laugh maniacally

anyone remember Mastodon?

ASL interpreters who work in the arts (concerts, opera, theatre, etc) deserve to be valued as artists too. it takes so much skill to be this good at capturing the FEEL of music beyond just translating the meaning of the text and it’s an invaluable accessibility service

if feds can take land near the border for security reasons, can they not take property elsewhere for security reasons? e.g. lack of housing impacts security, take unused land and repurpose for safety of citizens

what is the argument for passing on massive wealth to offspring being good for society?

i think people who complain about the language police are, by and large, just cowards. say whatever you want! no one is going to stop you. but people may judge you or even, if you say the wrong thing in front of the wrong person, pop you in the mouth. but that’s life!

🤞

raise your hand if you think that is, in fact, what the president “wants”: www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

the insane irony of indigenous people being detained by ICE for suspicion of not being from here, by people who are not from here 🤯

Decades of confirmation hearings where women testify to abuse and sexual violence, only for the men in question to rise to higher positions of power, is a perfect encapsulation of why more victims don’t come forward.

I'm sitting here watching people argue that's we're here because we didn't abandon Palestinians enough, we didn't abandon trans people enough, we didn't abandon immigrants enough, we weren't anti-Black or ableist enough, and people, WE'RE HERE BECAUSE WE ABANDONED PEOPLE AT ALL.

when is infrastructure week starting up again?

"I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today -- my own government... I cannot be silent." - Dr King Happy MLK Day!

if the CEO of tik tok is dick riding Trump, do we even want to go back?

One thing I do admire about Smurf culture is how each one has an equal and unique role in their society where some of them are actual jobs like Housebuilder Smurf, but then there’s a guy just called Jerk Smurf whose job it is to be a jerk and that makes me feel like I have value as well

one week left of rich pundit jerkoffs blaming leftists, trans people, asylees, & other marginalized groups for things sucking ass before making a huge pivot to being valiant warriors against fascism (with shirts about that for sale) and eagerly boosting leftist causes as something they always loved
