The fun thing about this is that Mat gets this content direct from @piccalil.li because everything — including emails — is in a content collection. A quick API route for him and he rigs it up to his Eleventy site. Lovely stuff.

Anyway, that's enough writing about writing about writing JavaScript; time to write about writing JavaScript. Come join me as I attempt to trick my brain into a primordial flow state over at No I Didn't Go Outside a Lot as a Kid Why Do You Ask Radio: deepcut.live/video_game_s...

If you've missed the first the first few JavaScript for Everyone newsletters, you're in luck*—I rearranged the popsicle sticks and chewing gum holding my site together to make a quick-and-dirty archive: wil.to/posts/#js4e * the "luck" is that any part of this busted old website works at this point

Alright, the next one is officially on the books. See you there. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8tU...

The third JavaScript for Everyone newsletter is out, and in it we reveal the upcoming look-and-feel for the course. It is _rad as hell_. So, naturally, I spent the whole time writing about 15–20 seconds of Escape from New York (1981). piccalil.li/emails/mat-u...

Alright dorks, I'm trying something: in ~15 minutes I'm gonna livestream the writing of tomorrow's JavaScript for Everyone newsletter. Tune in if you want to talk JS, general webdev, retro-future design aesthetics, and of course, the 1981 film Escape from New York. www.youtube.com/@wiltostreams

We've got availability at Set Studio this summer! We're wrapping up some great work which we can't wait to show you, but for now check out some of the stuff we've achieved 👇 If you've got a project idea cooking, we'd love to hear it. set.studio or hit me up with [email protected]

A multipa.ge update: issue 2 is still in the works, but there's a non-zero chance it won't be out until Winter given the time I need for piccalil.li/javascript-f.... I'd been planning on doing another run of issue #1 at the same time. Would you dorks be interested if I re-ran it now?

Remembering that this was found to be offensive and against community guidelines on X and thus removed. Giving it a new home. codepen.io/chriscoyier/...

Morning fam! I thought I'd just share some ways that you can support @piccalil.li. We're completely independent and focus everything on providing high quality education. We can do so much more and want to do it full time, but we need your support to do that. First we have an open collective.

I have constructed a device that administers a fatal electric shock via my keyboard if I start to type something about how JavaScript actually has nothing to do with Java apart from a few similarities in synta

> "Thus do I declare a variable! Henceforth, should I invoke the name of `theVariable` within the scope afforded me by the sacred rules of the keyword `let`, you shall heed my command" and JavaScript—which does not share my flair for the dramatic—responds `undefined` and very quickly moves on.

Just went digging for a semi-professional looking photo of myself and I'm not sure I'm gonna do better than this:

The second behind-the-scenes look at JavaScript for Everyone is going out in an hour or so, and I'm already going on a tear in there. Head over to piccalil.li/javascript-f... to see for yourself.

We had @wil.to on @shoptalkshow.com this week. If I had to guess the breakdown of topics were as follows: - 40% Megaman - 20% JavaScript - 40% Johnny Mnemonic (1995) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yetf...
