Did you know that long-tailed tits can use as many as 1,500 feathers to line their nests with? 🤯 These clever constructors also use a mixture of moss and cobwebs to give an elastic quality to the nest – as the chicks grow, the nest expands to accommodate them. #Cumbria #UKBirds #UKWildlife

Despite its name, the Cotton Pygmy-Goose is a duck. In Sri Lanka, it's more accurately named "Mal Saar" ("Flower Teal") as it prefers wetlands with floating or shallow vegetation. Weighing as little as 185g, the Mal Saar holds the world record for the smallest waterfowl by weight! buff.ly/3QeXJAN

A first for me, spotted two juvenile Atlantic Puffins at Fraserburgh harbour last weekend. Just curious if anyone has seen this before in January? Perhaps they have gone off course from Shetland?! I’ve only ever witnessed Puffins from May - Aug in NE Scotland before. 🪶📷🌿🐧🐦 #BirdingScotland #Birds
