Argh. I swear I spend more time reverting changes than I do making updates.

Experimenting with a new feature: Automatically scale swing/groove strength based on tempo. As the tempo increases, swing/groove decreases. I imagine drummers do this naturally? I wonder what the tempo -> swing strength curve looks like?

Electronic dance music rhythm innovation 🏀🧀 I think @errorsmith.bsky.social will appreciate this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9g9...

It's an honor to share this release with the great Synalegg. evel.bandcamp.com/album/illcom

some good news for america

It has never been more apparent to me that engagement with art, whether as spectator or practitioner, is absolutely vital. Hats off to all the supporters and makers.

Released today: William Fields & Synalegg - Illcom [EVEL] evel.bandcamp.com/album/illcom I feel like this one really tells a story. There is a narrative unfolding. I'm also very pleased with the dynamics, spaciousness, and depth of the sound. I hope you enjoy!

Yay for generative music systems!

When I make something really good, I find it almost paralyzing. Now I have to find some way of releasing this into the world that is worthy of the material, some way to get it to the listeners who I know will love it.

Cool to see these printers proofs

“Some of the most mind-blowing algorithmically generated music I'd ever heard” — Richard Devine williamfields.bandcamp.com/album/fieldsos (Today Bandcamp is donating 100% of its proceeds to MusiCares to aid those affected by the devastating Southern California wildfires.)

Peter Gabriel's album I/O was released in two different versions: the "Bright-Side Mix" and the "Dark-Side Mix", mixed by different engineers. It's interesting to jump back and forth and compare the two. (Similarly, I wish artists would release dynamic and loud versions.)

Spot on. This must be what it feels like when you are a single cell in someone's body and you notice that they just shot up heroin and started wandering into traffic.

An impressive demonstration of the power of touch screens for making and controlling electronic music. (In this case he is using TouchOSC.) (His other videos are equally impressive.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=vu3t...

I've said it before: William Field's "FieldsOS" is akin to AE's "NTS Sessions," in that there's so much of it, and so much of it is so good. And it sounds good, too. The early days of thin, harsh FM-type MAX/MSP sounds is gone.

Thanks Keith for closing out your set with a few tracks from FieldsOS! (my 24-hour-long generative music album from 2019) williamfields.bandcamp.com/album/fieldsos

NIN is coming to Philly and I just got tickets! Whoop! 😅

LEMUR is really back! This is very good news for me, since this is how I control my music, and I've been refining my UI for probably 10 years now. Not crazy about the subscription-only model, but I understand why it's necessary.
