Even if the Fordow enrichment plant is destroyed, that wouldn't necessarily stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, says @richardmnephew.bsky.social.

Secondly, the White House is explicitly referencing the election of Lee Jae-myung in the context of what it calls Chinese interference. I've been following US-South Korea relations for a while, and I don't remember a similar statement.

This statement is notable for what it does and doesn't say.
First of all, it doesn't offer any congratulations to the new leader of South Korea, a US treaty ally (although a separate Rubio statement did so).

Btw, Joongang has been doing some fabulous coverage in English over the past year or so. Really noticeably stepping their game up.

Oh yeah it didn't feel militarized at all, I thought, as a visitor anyway. Probably feels a bit different if you live there though, I'd imagine

I spent a night there. A nice little inn, since there was no hotel. But it was literally all focused on work. I was wondering, though, if there'd be enough to do for a family vacation for a few days, once my kids get a little older.

I was right there, trying to avoid stepping in the same wild horse poop, not long ago! My trip was so short though, and only focused on work. I have wondered what vacationing there would be like.

Man, I'm so sorry this is happening. Nothing but respect for you, too. I'm confident you'll find something soon.

VOA's history and mission are complicated, there's no question about it. But I'm proud of the independence that VOA journalists have fought for in recent decades. And as a motto for a news organization, I'm sorry, you just can't beat this:

Many are pointing out that authoritarians and US rivals will celebrate this attempt to kill VOA. That may be true. But all I've ever wanted to do is shoot straight and tell the truth, no matter what government I was covering. If that's a threat to anyone, so be it.
