The value of massive protests far outweighs the harm of helping the dictator find a pretext. He can always find a pretext, from his current lies about violence to videos from years ago. It's not worth the concern.

And in his own words, he needs no justification to send US Marines into any state. "The bar? The bar is what I say it is".

More than anything, Trump is preparing an actual war, a shooting war, against California. The placement of troops mimics what Putin did in the Donbas of Ukraine, placing forces prior to the escalation to an invasion.

National Guard troops deployed in Los Angeles, else they wouldn't be there. They know they're in LA to crack down for a dictator, and they know it's illegal.

Raiding parties, steal it. These are not decent people.

That really isn't a force preparing to deal with armed rebellion or rising violence from the population, is it?

"Seems excessive" and "raises questions", which is Collins-speak for "I want you to think we're giving this careful consideration but I'm totally on board with it"

Does the President ALSO need to explain his legal justification? Because his offhand explanation doesn't appear to satisfy any exception to the Constitutional prohibition to his deployment of the National Guard.

Correct, and furthermore their citizenship is a matter between them, the US government, and their employer. It's nobody else's damn business.

It goes both ways. Governor Newsome could technically have Trump arrested for violations of California state laws

I think they will have to specifically identify the alleged officer, prove that he's actually an officer, prove that the officer was actually trying to enforce a law, and that Huerta actually did impede him.
I think they will fail in each of these.

Protests ARE rebellions against the illegally assumed authorities of this Administration.
There is nothing illegal nor unpatriotic about rebelling against unconstitutional and statutorily illegal authority.

I hope they're dead even and kill each other. Figuratively speaking 😉

June 14 will forever be our day of shame and national humiliation.

Trump claims to be the only President in history with the knowledge to add a room.

Exactly right. I've got a hunch that even in the first days of Biden's Administration you were agitating for Congress to overturn Citizens United, and no Democrats seemed to care.

Clearly not.

A local millitia squad is going to fire back one of these days.

Interesting, there was plenty of open racism and Nazi attitudes in my elementary years. You could tell they were mimicking their parents.
Must have been a different era, but surely you can remember the dumb ones all being antagonistic to everyone smarter than them. They grew up but never changed

Why is it hard to understand? Some people are just antagonistic towards anyone smarter than them and it manifests this way. Surely you've known this since grade school.

Prices are up, 2.8%. Maybe he means the inflation rate is down, but it went down 3x as much during Biden.
Energy prices are UP btw

Impulsive or short-tempered is all relative isn't it? To normal people he's a toddler emotionally, but to MAGA and Vance that might be right at their own level.

Giving a policeman unilateral power to curtail the constitutional right of assembly is a really bad idea, especially in the current climate of quasi-official police activity.

Yes. They decided that the "running for head cheerleader" vibe was better and "they're weird" had mean-girl overtones.
To be fair, they'd already lost it. If "weird" is the worst negative that a former DA can levy against a fraud like that then it's hopeless

I am convinced that the vast majority if not all ICE agents are random untrained sociopaths who were half-assed deputized by email, whose only instructions are where to deliver victims.

I'm impressed. Have you happened to research whether having healthcare is worthwhile given that we all die anyway? I understand it's a burning question in political circles.

If we dressed up in ICE costumes and snatched MAGA men off the streets, would that be any different than what's happening now? Other than the targets that is.

Putin gets them.

Musk will chicken out first because he's so proud of his inside status. Trump has already gotten what he wants from Musk, and can destroy our institutions without him.

Musk is banking a lot on the 2024 voting hacks and exploits not being discovered. Or is he claiming unstoppable power to control information? How else is he going to "fire" every Republican he doesn't like?

Also, given that Russia has aided Iran's nuclear program with nuclear fuel and by building reactors, it's pretty stupid to invite Putin in on the talks as an ally.

Tariffs on all the bauxite and primary aluminum that our aluminum industry needs are going to cancel out the industry boost from tariffs on aluminum.
So basically, we just make everything cost more with no benefit.
