The solution, as with many things, is better Planning regulations. But housebuilding lobby has convinced government and much of the public that instead of improving planning controls, we should slash "red tape" entirely. Which will make all our problems worse.

Most developers only seeking Planning permission as cheap as possible. Transport consultants know bikeability sessions & resident leaflets is a cheaper way to tick that box than decent foot/cycle access and permeability through the site.
