Cathy has explained "grovelling" was her intent, which totally tracks. Leaving this up for a bit as a nice little lesson about how people bring themselves to a text and can see things you didn't intend in your own work.

I've never read the book/musical, so I don't know if my cuts woudl be too enthusiastic, but it's a different form. Just get rid of the songs that are like "Here we are! In this place!" because it's a film. We can see it folks.
