NEW: Who would benefit most from extending the 2017 federal tax cuts? Kentucky's wealthiest. TCJA 2.0 would result in the poorest Kentuckians receiving a tax cut of around $70 annually, while the highest earners would pocket more than $45,000.

I can’t believe this has to be said, but: You cannot tell the story of Jackie Robinson—as a ballplayer, serviceman, or human—without discussing our country’s history of racism. From Around the Horn:

@dannybkelly.bsky.social @dannyheifetz.bsky.social Ever since we found out our first IVF transfer was successful, I have been waiting for the day I could test the Misty Mountain theory. He was born early Monday, and tonight, I got my first chance. And son of a bitch, it worked like a charm!

I am so sick of this shit. It’s a Sieg Heil. It’s a Nazi salute. Anyone who sees it knows. It’s ridiculous that legal departments presumably won’t let media call it what it is. Bannon made “a provocative gesture that resembled the salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally”? Fuck off.

In 2022 44 people died in the Eastern Kentucky floods. @jdvance1.bsky.social didn't show his face there. Now, 12 people are confirmed dead so far and he hasn’t uttered a word about it. Vance only uses Appalachian Kentucky when it benefits him. And #HesNotFromHere

A new report from the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy outlines how immigrants contribute to the Commonwealth. That includes 12% of the state’s construction workers, 24% of its software engineers and 16% of its physicians. 13% of small, independent business owners are also immigrants.

I often think of these words from @rhettmc.mythical.com. And in this season where millions celebrate a baby born in a manger because they were denied refuge everywhere else, it isn't shocking when those in power miss the Mary in need right in front of them.

KY Supreme Court Justice: "They totally weren't singling out any specific city's district." Senator Stivers: "We were totally singling out one particular district."

Holsclaw proudly boasted over $19m in returned "surplus" funds during her tenure that were budgeted to the CC's office while services and infrastructure remained outdated for years. When you complain about staff shortages and don't use the money budgeted for you to fix them, it's a pretty bad look.
