In the world of categorization, there is weirdly strong evidence toward Fiery Bulblaxes being considered a boss. Every single Fiery Bulblax in the game, both in the story and Challenge Mode, contains a treasure. The sole exception to that guards the Yellow Onion — you have to beat it to progress.
