There was an excellent @dhm.bsky.social article about this on @defector.com that I think of every time I hear the name Ray, or Jay, or Ray Jay, or (I’m sick of him already). defector.com/ray-jay-john...

Holy crap, I can’t believe they didn’t patch this but also I love that they didn’t.

Fantastic list, but I gotta ask… Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning?!? I think I stopped watching them after the third one.

Ooooh Night Moves is a good one! One of my favorite Hackman roles and my favorite 70s noir after Blowout and The Long Goodbye.

Ooooh that Lightning Upon Dodging sounds like a nice one. Is that on a relic?

I was laughing throughout this but ā€œle fameux jambon d’internetā€ by @redford.bsky.social had me WHEEZING.

Second movie after E.T. that made young me cry ugly tears in the theater. Haven’t seen it in ages but those shots really make me want to.

Yeah, we’re spoiled by living a quick walk from the Squak Mt. system so it’s rare that we go anywhere else.

Nice. Haven’t been up the front side in ages, I usually take the route behind the high school after I drop my kids off.
comment in response to post
Ha, we used to live in that same neighborhood. Now we see the top of Squak Mt. on the back side.

We went on Monday after I saw your post last week! We saw lots of sea stars, moon snails, crabs, and even a baby Pacific octopus!

Meanwhile my ā€œUltimate Video Game Crotch Quizā€ got more pageviews than any story in GameSpy’s history. Wish I still had the image with 100 notable video game crotches in it…

Hot DAMN that is a great review.

Oh damn, I just saw you’re stuck in DFW. I take it all back, you deserve a win tonight.

Ha, we weren’t getting past the Pacers (or the Thunder) anyway. Why, are you still salty about the 8 titles we’ve won since your last one? šŸ˜ (I will note that I am one of the ā€œthe league is better when the Knicks are goodā€ folks though)

I can only hope he brings a Ted Cruz level of jinxery to the Garden.

Oh god, this is awful. We gave Leif one of his first paid jobs when I was GameSpy and I was blown away by the quality of his writing and couldn’t believe that he had flown under the radar for so long. I loved reading his work and loved following his career path. What a huge, sad loss.

Losing our best player didn’t help, but the ā€œlive by the three, die by the threeā€ approach isn’t great when the shooting is cold. Bummed, but c’est la vie.

If you’re in NY, you should treat yourself to a salt bagel (if you like salty stuff, that is). Amazingly good with butter OR cream cheese. Also, whitefish!

We have a bucket of balls that’s constantly dwindling and it’s fun to figure out the breakdown of what percentage were left at the field, lost in the backyard, or rolled under a bed post-massage.
