I found a lot of joy in using yarns and colors I love. They're fun to make and a bit addictive. Enjoy!

Love this blocking visual! A man once told me, "I'm not going to argue with you; there will come a time when you'll block all your pieces." The tone irritated me at the time, but he was right. I love blocking now. I think it's the transformation that gets me.

Update on the Na Craga #SweaterSurgery
After a couple false starts, I decreased almost 20 percent and worked a classic 2x2 rib from the reclaimed yarn on smaller needles (the same as before, it turns out). I'm still waiting for this sucker to dry after wet blocking. This has to be an improvement.

Thanks for the reference. This is not the issue I had with this sweater, but I love Patty's tips and tricks! I found the same tip in her book Knitting Bag Of Tricks. The "ribbing" for this design isn't flipping so much as it is flaring, which is more of a gauge issue.

Sometimes we need a push to help us move past the emotions. On this sweater I knew once I could get the stitches back on the needles I'd be able to relax and enjoy it again. Since you've waited 4 years, it'll feel like finishing a sweater in record time! 😉

It's been a while. I followed Alice Starmore's instructions... except for the gauge, apparently. The ribbing doesn't flow into the cables, so decreasing for the new band should be fine. I'm anticipating taking the ribbing in may also help with length issues.

Okay, you've convinced me. I've done so many sweater surgeries before, but hadn't embraced it emotionally yet for this one. I have the yarn on hand and can unpick the seams. And while it's a little more time commitment, the knitting rhythm is a more familiar one than sewing skills.

Thanks for the helpful tips. I definitely did use smaller needles for the ribbing, but the ribbing is not very elastic, having a cable detail to look pretty. It's possible that my tension wasn't tight enough; sometimes yarns don't knit smaller no matter what you do with needles.

That's my plan B. We're trying the tacky method first. And if it works, I'm the kind of person who can't not tell on myself when I find a captive audience. (Why do I do this? he asks in italics)

Yes, in the long run, it's prolly better than ghosting a business. A growth opportunity! Lol

I admire your ability to advocate for yourself. In the past, I may have ordered sizes based on the cozy I brought with me, not realizing the difference in flavor profile. That may have been when I doctored up my coffees with sugar and cream.

Thanks! I used the Cartography Pullover by TinCanKnits as a starting point, then moved to Priscilla Gibson Roberts's Knitting in the Old Way for the yoke.
