I think that the design of the original was kind of focused on treating her like a gag in the context of the game, but even still, when I look at the lines of that original design

This--this is true. I imagine it's probably perfect for people that fit into some sort of golden ratio of proportional height to each other but for the rest of us mortals....

I can't remember if I ever explained the lore in the context of the story but her whole outfit is very hodgepodge and stolen. She stole a fancy silk stocking from a noblewoman before joining the party and probably stole the other sock from someone else out of spite rather than desire.

I do too!! Mostly just because there's SUCH GOOD STUFF in old media that deserves to be revisited with a modern lens π€ and I'm way too slow to make it all lol

Thank you! β€οΈ That's a huge commitment! I can understand why it doesn't happen a lot, I feel like it takes time to tease out the difference between sexuality and sexualization when you're making art, but I think that's at the heart of it

Especially in pulp media! I think as noir as a genre is super relevant to our moment in history, what with its cynical sympathy for the little guy and pervasiveness of corruption of authority. It's got a lot to speak to in our time beyond dames, cigarettes and mini blinds. π΅οΈ

Oh I don't mean to speak ill hentai/doujin of the community! I admire a lot of Japanese artists and very much enjoy their works. I think sexuality in hentai is represented generally in a way isn't to my taste. Even tho I love a lot of individual works

Porn vs. Erotica: A measured response :)
I think this is accurate and now it seems like the term you use is just like any other marketing term meant to signal to someone that this is for you/not.
I like erotica as a term to signal an emphasis on the theme of eroticism not just explicitness.
