Welp they're doing the Roosevelt Reservation crazy strategy, giving the military "jurisdiction" over a 60-foot-wide stretch of land from CA to AZ, authorizing troops to detain migrants for "trespassing on military property," thus trying to bypass the Posse Commitatus Act. It's bad and dumb, folks.

One man in CECOT "doesn’t even know that his child’s been born," his lawyer said. Another has muscular dystrophy affecting his right arm, per a court filing. The facts fit "every definition of an enforced disappearance under international law," an attorney told me. www.huffpost.com/entry/cecot-...

Update: I just listened to the audio of this. Trump: “If the Supreme Court said bring somebody back, I would do that. I respect the Supreme Court.” Reporter: And the lower court as well…? Trump: “Oh no, no. I’m not talking about the lower court. I have great respect for the Supreme Court.”

As I’ve said, yes, this was their aim all along. That’s why they didn’t just send these people to Gitmo. This is an attempt to find a step beyond Gitmo where the court says, “Well, our hands are tied.” It’s an awful, lawless gambit that must fail, but that is what they want it to be.

Trump: I am the strongest, most powerful person ever! The whole world lines up to kiss my ass! Courts: Return Kilmer Abrego Garcia from the El Salvador torture prison you sent him to Trump: Sorry. No can do. Totally out of my hands

Lutnick: “We’ll make phones in 🇺🇸” Days later: *Trump exempts phones*

This is bullshit—of course the US could apply diplomatic pressure to have him returned—but if it is allowed to stand, the executive branch has the power to disappear people permanently without any sort of due process. That in turn will be the end of all other constitutionally guaranteed rights.

Closing schools during pandemic = bad, unforgivable, “worse than the Iraq war” - Nate Silver Closing schools because you made the president feel bad = that’s just how politics work

The Secretary of Health and Human Services is a menace to public health every day he's in office. Donald Trump and the Senate GOP put him there.

Make it make sense

the transfer to El Salvador of US deportees is, per Pres Bukele, a straight up contract that has “nothing to do w/foreign policy.” The fees we are paying makes their entire prison system “sustainable.” Don’t see how US can make argument that bringing A-G back is some sensitive foreign policy matter

BREAKING: Last night, the Harvard faculty chapter of the AAUP and the national AAUP filed a lawsuit & TRO to block the Trump administration from illegally demanding that we keep quiet and change how we teach and research at the point of a financial gun. actionnetwork.org/user_files/u...

I got architect Philip Johnson’s FBI file years ago and the way he talked about the Nazi rallies he attended was exactly this. It was the thrill that appealed to him.

I'm exhausted just contemplating the coming fight over the meaning of "facilitate." DOJ has previously argued that in immigration law, "facilitating" "does not require [the US to take] any affirmative steps." By DOJ's reading, it means *permitting* the person to return, not enabling it.

A federal judge in Maryland wants the government to "facilitate" Abrego Garcia's return to the U.S. after the Supreme Court largely upheld her original order.

Greg Abbott’s stalling the TX-18 election to help Trump’s agenda—keeping a safe Dem seat empty for 7 months. @isaiahrmartin.bsky.social isn’t just another name on a ballot—he’s the next-gen fighter. He’s calling Abbott out and ready to raise hell in Congress for people the GOP tries to silence.

Investors and analysts are seeing Trump’s move to exempt electronics from tariffs as a capitulation to China - which they like because it de-escalates. So they’re suggesting lower chances of a recession. But capitulation is the right word.

The dumbest Bond films never had villains this brazen

Unless there was another sealed filing which isn’t on the docket (a real possibility), it would appear that the administration has failed to provide the required information about what they are doing to try to get him back.

Bring 👏 back 👏 circuit riding 👏 but at the district court level 👏 If John Roberts really is the institutionalist he’s been made out to be, he needs to see the government’s repeated shenanigans before the district court up close and personal

“they were polite to me so they can’t be a monster” is the most consistent failure of elite society

NEW: The Trump administration has now filed its status report on Kilmar Abrego Garcia. It says that he is alive and being held in CECOT pursuant to the “domestic authority of El Salvador”

I was waiting for those filings, but I am going to take the rest of the night off. Have a good evening and night, all, and let us try to be good to one another — and ourselves. {For people new to me, this is as much a reminder to me as it is a thought for others.}

I’m curious if Roberts genuinely thought that Trump would comply with his 9-0 decision. Because John Roberts’ level of credulity is going to determine a lot of outcomes in the very near future.

Whatever the Abrego Garcia Court thought it was doing when it wrote "The District Court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs," this is the result.

Russian forces have resumed a more typical strike pattern in late March and early April 2025 after a temporary spike in the size of Russian long-range strike packages in mid-February and early March 2025. 🧵(1/6) isw.pub/UkrWar041225

Trump now saying — contrary to his previous statements and those of federal officials — that people removed from the U.S. to El Salvador are in the “sole custody” of El Salvador

Absolutely the case at an international meeting I was at last week. Deep sense of bewilderment and disappointment. The actions of the US shape the rest of the world, and citizens of other countries are worried by our unraveling.

It’s always veep

The United States Supreme Court, as packed by the Federalist Society, as supported by the Randy Barretts and Ilya Shapiros and Jonathan Turleys of America, is suited to squabble over what “facilitate” means but not to achieve justice or protect or defend the United States Constitution.

Democracy isn’t dying in darkness it’s being dismantled at the hands of the Supreme Court of North Carolina. @allisonjriggs.bsky.social won this election fair and square back in November. Her opponent is a petulant Confederate cosplayer who can’t handle losing. Concede Jefferson Griffin.

This right here 🔥 “If there was market manipulation, it is a crime. Someone needs to go to jail… I want the documents. I want the Signal chats too, because I don’t trust them — that they weren’t sharing all this information across their Signal chats.” – @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social

So I finally got Dragon Age: Origins set up on my Steam Deck, running great with mods and all after fiddling with controls. I put hundreds of hours in when it first came out but haven’t played since, and damn, it holds up so well. The whole “origins” concept is brilliant and so well executed.

My law firm is currently litigating 49 voting and election cases in 21 states. States with the most cases: AZ, GA, NC, NV, FL, LA, PA. I expect new cases will be filed this week.

As a commenter points out: So far…

There’s a special place in HELL for anyone who stands before the Supreme Court and argues that a man they wrongfully sent to an El Salvadorian death camp should stay there.
