Would’ve been even better if you’d gone Kf8 at some point just to show White you don’t need to castle to have king safety!

Monthly is too much of course, but much better than I’d feared.

Not needed given I was already a piece up - but definitely amusing!

And @chesscom.bsky.social should post more (also @fide.bsky.social)

If you don’t come and get it right now I’m giving the upgrade to the dog.

First moves are right, king has to take. Then loose pieces drop off with a couple more precise moves.

Agreed. Play bullet instead.

I don’t feel like I prefer White any more. Maybe Re2 to discourage dxc4?

Bishop should be a tiny bit better than the knight - I’d say close to equal but I’d prefer to be White (say +0.3)? Think I’d go b4 and try long term to open the queenside.

Awkward, maybe Bg2 here, either going to the ending or at least getting rid of the knight

I don’t immediately see anything wrong with Nxg4 Nxg4 e4 - looks like I’m getting what I want as White?

It’s good! Especially if your opponent goes 4…Qh4 - and especially especially if you know the 6.Be2 lines!

Win first, then learn…

Thanks - yes, FMs are good but no-one’s perfect! Plus it’s a good opportunity to learn.

I had a tape of the Greek myths - I was so upset at the injustice of the ending of the Theseus story (where he flies the wrong sail so his father throws himself from the cliff) that I refused to listen to it again.

Do you think the mission’s actually impossible, or just, like, really hard?

(He did a very good job - it’s still part of the quintet’s repertoire at uni)

A band geek one - my friend arranged “Can’t take my eyes off you” for brass quintet because he didn’t like any of the existing arrangements.

Reminds me, I played an IM years ago, was very fortunate to scrape a draw. Afterwards I said “I forgot how to meet this line” - he said “I very much doubt you’ve ever seen this position in your life”. He was right of course…!

But you wouldn’t forget your prep!

Simple solution - don’t have prep!
