When we as a society force people into “non-visible status”, we also keep them from resources available to people “visible in society. Who receives resources and who doesn’? Where/Who is money allocated, hoarded, kept or stripped from—which individuals, groups, Institutions, communities?

Finding myself in a not so generous space today. I can hop on the doom wave every so often, but it’s not sustainable. I’m currently reading French economist Thomas piketty’s “time for socialism (dispatches from a world on fire)” What are you all reading? #booksky

If you don’t see yourself reading @wired.com coverage of DOGE—who they are, what they are and what they are doing—listen to this episode. Hint: college freshman, using personal emails (ahem), someone who calls himself “big balls”, and someone who says he couldn’t be paid to marry outside his race.

Changing name of fort liberty military base back to “fort Bragg” (originally after a confederate general), and saying it’s to honor a different “Bragg”, is what you call identity politics. It’s also the kind of petty adolescent behavior I expect of kids denying the Cheeto dust on their face.

Pete Hegseth's DOD has decided to recruit at an NRA event rather than a Black Engineering event. www.military.com/daily-news/2...

I cannot stress enough the importance of open source, credible, digestible, research and information.

Black folks & People of color know what it means to be let go, erased, told we weren’t a good culture fit, that we didn’t earn our place, and were not qualified, while being the most qualified person. The regime’s “efficiency” audit is that in real time. Just look at who they targeted first.

NIH had two tracks for the same fellowship: those from underrepresented backgrounds and those not. Both usually get funds. Rather than merge back to one track to comply with their understanding of executive orders, they essentially rejected without review all the ones on the underrepresented track.

One of the preconditions for the technocultic fascist moment we currently occupy (not just in the US) is a commitment to breaking the backs of the humanities, especially those scholars/bodies of work that analyse tech, science, power critically. And sadly, too many scientists were a party to this.

As the world meets at the Paris AI summit this week to discuss the future, direction, sustainability, regulations of, and shared global nature of a healthy AI ecosystem and development; the U.S. chooses domination, ecological ruin, and scarcity by all but removing themselves from summit agreements.

To the journalist who wrote that Pete hegseth was confirmed after being accused of “aggressive behavior towards women”, what you meant to say was “Pete hegseth’s confirmation is a cultural enabling on the right of patriarchal violence towards women.”

Left leaning journalism is using words like “unorthodox”, when referring to the belief systems of Republican nominees for cabinet positions, when in reality their beliefs are “aligned with white-supremacy”, “conspiratorial”, “uneducated”, “enabling of fascism”. Where is the journalistic resistance?

Why not allowing the fascist regime to pack the court system with judges will be an essential fight for the left.

If you don’t stand with the most marginalized, down the road you end up having no one to stand with you.

Reading a book on socialist economics that never interrogates or names “whiteness”, but names “racial minorities.” Uses words like “inequality” but never acknowledges who the inequality serves. Says “local working class” but never says who is included in that designation. #intersectionalitymatters

It’s amazing that the most socialist of socialist whites still write as if they know what’s best for black people. The mindset of being more objective and global in analysis, and less obscured by identity politics is a conservative currency that’s been in rotation for decades.

In order to keep us from looking forward down the path being laid, they will keep our focus on little fires everywhere. It’s imagining the future which allows us to dream solutions, to be five steps ahead, to notice patterns and discern how/when to break the rhythm, parry, and counter strike.

As the new regime’s government abolishes diversity, equity and inclusion, “re-claiming a step towards meritocracy”, we are expected not to have the imagination to project these ideas and actions into the future. They are relying on American’s short term memory and inability to look ahead.

Are we at a place on the left where we understand, and agree, that meritocracy and individualism exist within a white dominant culture that allows white people to see themselves as without race, thus without status in the system they created? A delusional vacuum of inherent self and group value.

“User error” is always my first assumption (what am I not seeing?) If I don’t understand the historical, social, economic, political, and cultural contexts that have created the environments and influences that place everything in my reality in my path, how will I notice my #usererror

Imagine paleontologists, archeologists, anthropologists, etc. with a code of ethics teaching people to preserve and document their ancestry, historical artifacts and land, instead these scientists seeing it as an opportunity to colonize, pillage, and patent entire cultures they don’t belong to.

Don’t know who needs the reminder, but, I have covid 19, and it still sucks. Fully vaxxed. Wear masks still. Still got it.

What we don’t talk about is how each and every one of us picks and chooses what appropriation is, based on capitalism. It doesn’t matter until someone gains social and financial capital, but we never interrogate what ways we benefit from the same system of cultural cache that we admonish in others.

Regulating, resourcing, rooting, and re-membering. Don’t let empire keep your nervous system in a constant state of fight or flight. We must be thinking critically, creating abundantly, writing voraciously, reading insatiably, and connecting/organizing unyieldingly. Love and power to all of us.

I will always take note of what people say, to whom, when and where they say it, as well as, when they choose to say nothing. On one hand I want to know how violent their silences are, and on the other hand, I want to know their cultural fluencies. Do you let others speak and be heard? Who is heard?

Centrists, leftists and the far-right, liberals and conservatives alike, who believe they are neutral, unbiased, objective actors in this political era, will be the key that opens the floodgates of a further hellscape. It takes not knowing so damn much, to believe you know enough to be objective.

After the disbelief, disappointment, wrongness and righteousness has subsided; the books read, protests marched, teach ins taught, and moral ethical analysis emerges; it’s time to ask, “what roles do I play in the destruction of other people’s freedoms, self-esteem, self-confidence, and self worth?”

Instead of housing people displaced and devastated by the fires, capitalists will make housing scarce. Because that is what capitalism is, scarcity.

When you feel yourself becoming complacent or surrendering to hopelessness or apathy, remember that everything that exists today exists because someone(s) dreamt it up and decided to put in the work to make it a reality. We can create new ways of doing things, new ways of being, new worlds.

I want to offer that mutual aid, like many communal networks of care, works best when we consistently invest in it what is sustainable for us—whether it’s time, money, etc. It is not sustainable to depend on mutual aid groups during major disasters, when we aren’t building it up and out together.

The dunning Kruger effect is a term we should all be more acquainted with. When we don’t know a topic thoroughly we also don’t know that we don’t know. A little research turns into overconfidence. This also shows up when people with competence in one area confuse that for competence in another.

Community organizing 101: people in your community will disappoint you. Radical acceptance of other people’s boundaries and limitations is necessary to building a clear image of the collective tools at your disposal.

Most people on the far left still treat identity politics and race as unworthy, unintellectual products of ignorant and aggrieved peoples. Your inability to see through more than the lens of class will keep you blind from the ways you erase, disregard and oppress others.

People in the neo-liberal bourgeoisie love to hear themselves speak the jargon of liberation while shaming unhoused, poor, working class, lower “middle class”, queer and trans, and disabled people of color, for not sacrificing their livelihood for people with wealth, access and class mobility.
