It only takes about 9 minutes to complete this national survey to share your feedback with Woodland Park Zoo and help shape more relevant museum, zoo and aquarium experiences here and nationwide. π§π¦§π’π

Did you guess correctly? The cuties who left their prints in the snow are: Ted the pudu, maned wolf Rosario, Fitz the jaguar, and Carson the red panda! Thanks animal keeper Miero for these awesome photos of some of our favorites enjoying the snow this last week!

Rest assured all of our animals are safe and snug. They can choose whether to explore in the snow or stay cozy thanks to our dedicated animal keepers who make sure everyone has what they need to have the best snow days.

Conner and Frei love training and foraging for any kind of worms we give them! They especially enjoy wax worms and mealworms. A close second would be when they receive mussels and clams. #FridayVibes

13/10 on the adorable scale. Asian small-clawed otters are dependent on access to clean, healthy waterways to survive in their forest habitat in southern and southeastern Asia. A healthy forest needs healthy waterways! Choose Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) paper and wood products.

Asian small-clawed otter pairs mate for life and despite their differences, Conner and Frei share a sweet bond. When together in their outdoor space, they can often be found frolicking along the muddy banks and dense vegetation of their exhibit while engaging in lively conversations.

Our zoo is home to Asian small-clawed otter pair Little Frei (who gets her name from Seattle Sounders goalkeeper, Stefan Frei) and Conner. Frei just celebrated her 8th birthday on December 9. Conner was born on March 17, 2018, making him 6 years old.

They are more vocal than most otter species with at least 12 different vocalizations! Each whistle, buzz, twitter, chirp or staccato chuckle that an Asian small-clawed otter makes has a distinct meaning, such as alarm, distress, greeting or mating calls.

They are tiny. As the smallest among the 13 otter species, Asian small-clawed otters weigh only 6 to 12 pounds and measure 2 to 3 feet long, half of which is their tail!

Rico's adorable antics and fuzzy snout will be deeply missed. (Rico's bestie Sam the donkey is getting lots of extra attention). Please add your own stories or photos to the comments to help us celebrate Rico's life π
