Full-time slugabed. He/Him. I write about games, anime, and other media. A lot of Bioware, flight combat sims, and agency in games chatter from me. Linktree: https://linktr.ee/WordsMaybe Avatar by @nutmargaret Banner by @owawa

Games are one of the only mediums where personal agency is embedded in the experience, yet we don’t archive our choices, our instincts, or how they shift over time. We analyze books and dissect films, what if we documented our playthroughs with the same intention? #blog #gaming #nostalgia

another big update from me! i've been sitting on this for a week, unsure of how to write this up.. but i've gotten the total cost for my top surgery, which is $19.6k. i can't raise this money alone, even with all of the work i do, so i've made a gofundme. gofund.me/954d116c

Three friends stuck in a room. A girl climbing a mountain. A story, a game, a siren to the tune of A. Can you see it? Can you see the moon? Play my short (~20min) visual novel "In the Palace of the Birds" for free...now!!

Tomorrow! It's sitting here ready and waiting to be uploaded!

Every single god dang time I finish Mass Effect and those credits start rolling... Just immensely nostalgic for a time where not only was I perfectly suited to be wide-eyed about games, but devs were given the resources to be so ambitious at the AAA level.

Shocking news: I owned a frog Giga Pet as a kid.

The way we talk about games is broken. There are a million reasons for it, I think the platforms where these discussions are most commonly held are, usurpingly, such a big part of that. This is def attached to the "bring back personal websites" discourse. I'd add smaller forums to that list too.

An old video, but still pretty proud of this one. A break down of the environmental design of the Normandy through each of it renditions across the Mass Effect trilogy. Specifically, how Bioware designs home spaces in their games and what can be read from such.

Alright, suckers! I'm throwing up my lil 20ish minute visual novel "In the Palace of the Birds" this friday!! be excited or be a square, no other options

Did a quick video version on my Citizen Sleeper 2 piece.

It's interesting to see the ways ME1 breaks in regards to the Same-Gender Romance mod. Male Shep gets the Fem Shep lines here. "But you're a female!" shows how the game fractures as a result of any attempt to make it more queer. Much to ponder for my far off Mass Effect and modding as agency video.

The hour is late. Time for me to sorrowfully ramble about Bioware, writing about games for a living, and for the millionth time since 2007...booting up Mass Effect again.

Ah, also sharing excitement for Kingdom Come II, I see. Considering leadership at Warhorse Studio openly courted gamer gate and its modern renditions, as well as had its founder had some really unprofessional tweets about Veilguard. I'll break my rule of sharing shit from that hellsite this once.

Very cool to see the current director of Mass Effect gushing over some Elon / Space X shit and then seemingly be surprised that people would be upset about it...Especially when it's happened twice now in the span of a month.

A lot of games reinforce dominant ideologies. From war games to RPGs, power seems to be always about control. Been thinking a lot about why that is. #blog #gaming

Me writing about Bioware for the 700th time: Our work is devalued and life is worse for it. Baxter writing about a cool piece of JP media for the 700th time: Our work is devalued and life is worse for it. *insert gif from Predator of Arnold and Carl Weather's enormous arms clasping together*

I am once again playing Mass Effect.

Citizen Sleeper 2 is somehow the exact game I was hoping for. More Citizen Sleeper, but with ample influence drawn from Cowboy Bebop and Mass Effect. A tight focus on found family in a sometimes rather cruel digital tabletop world.

Discovering games really shouldn’t feel like scrolling through Netflix. Honestly, nothing should. Wrote a lil' about demo discs, and why friction made finding games feel so much more tangible. #blog #gaming #nostalgia

Oh, Sakura Wars really is just a 90's workplace comedy, mecha anime with elements of visual novels, tactics, and dating sim. I probably should have played this sooner.

Old man needed a bath.

i hate asking for help again so quickly after last time, but the cost of my medication has increased pretty significantly even with my insurance. i've also been hit with some unexpected medical bills. hoping to raise $250 to recoup the cost. 🙇‍♂️ ko-fi.com/justicekazzy...

Finally got around to watching this. Usurpingly, very much my jam.

Playing Divinity: Original Sin and thinking that it's just okay-ish Figured I would just push through. I have made choice heavy RPGs part of my personality for some unholy reason... WAIT THIS IS 65+ HOUR IF YOU MAINLINE IT!?!?!?!?!

I'd love 2025 to be the year I get out there a bit more... So hey, if you want someone to write about art--of all kinds, especially Japanese--for your website/zine/whatever, I'm always open to talk!!!
