This wouldn't be a problem if Republicans weren't regularly suggesting the courts should be ignored or that judges are somehow overstepping their role by simply ruling Trump's illegal activity to be illegal.

Democratic erosion. Persecuting his political enemies.

You can see why. 404.

This from @katearonoff.bsky.social is so unnerving and depressing on Musk-DOGE cuts to NOAA. He's wrecking everything, both indiscriminately and deliberately. From our pod discussion: newrepublic.com/article/1925...

SCOOP: FEMA's top lawyer was forced out yesterday after less than a week on the job—and sources tell me it was because of his unwillingness to write a memo providing legal cover for the agency's impoundment of $80 million from NYC migrant shelters. Full story:

When did firing FBI agents, IRS agents, park rangers, scientists, and air traffic controllers becoming a better idea than simply taxing billionaires their fair share? 🤔

A couple of thoughts: - We already have a similar program, the EB-5 visa, but that requires investing $500k or 1 million in US businesses and creating jobs, not just buying in with cold hard cash. - Trump can't do anything like this without Congress. The president can't sell green cards. Period.

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years as a result of a deliberate strategy. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people. Good trade.

Yes Yes True.

It’s like many Democrats can’t quite grasp the way the rule of law underlies ALL of their power, their leverage, their safety. And the only thing underlying the rule of law is the public expectation that the law be followed and the promise of public discontent if it isn’t.

The Pentagon just announced that it would double the number of news organizations removed from physical offices to make room for MAGA propaganda media outlets. OUT: The New York Times, Politico, NPR, The Washington Post, CNN, NBC, The Hill, The War Zone

Kansas Senator Jerry Moran has split with Repub party to admonish the reckless shutdown on USAID: $340 million in food grown in the US is sitting at domestic ports, waiting to be delivered to HUNGRY people. Food stability= political stability & provides an important market for our farmers.

A federal judge has just ordered Musk to get out of Treasury’s computers. We are fortunate there are good lawyers representing democracy. Normally that would end the matter, but in this era there are legit questions about compliance & enforcement. We live on the edge of a constitutional crisis.

A question I’d really like to see reporters start asking members of Congress—of *both* parties: If the Trump administration starts openly defying court orders, what (if anything) are you going to do about it?

A Nazi billionaire is drilling directly into Fort Knox in broad daylight and we’re just watching it happen.

Hey so this is terrifying.

It's really disheartening that the tech media gets the urgency of the current moment and is reporting it like it is and our political media and big media institutions are just pretending like nothing is happening.

This is the moment we’ve always been headed towards. If the President refuses to follow a court’s order we are in deep crisis. The GOP has courted this disaster.

Hey look, Biden got Mexico to deploy 10,000 troops to the border at the beginning of his presidency. And he didn’t threaten a trade war to do it. It’s so damn sad how Trump plays with & deceives his followers.

If Biden hired so many unqualified FAA employees, as Trump says — then why were there ZERO commercial air accidents in the US during Biden’s administration?

How much has Chevron donated to wildfire victims in Los Angeles?

I have a net zero dad 😄 Even through we have a carbon tax in Canada, he calculates his own tax based on the latest social cost of carbon and donates it to a climate NGO every year. And for years, I didn’t even know he did this! I only found out when he mentioned it as a casual aside.
