I love that my kids are interested in baking! 8 plain bagels, 8 cinnamon raisin bagels, and 4 loaves of sandwich bread here done mostly by our wonderful 12yo with some minimal parental supervision (and a lot of encouragement). This will all be consumed before the weekend is over 😅 🍽️🍜

The Rays are the most efficient team in baseball, but efficiency as an end goal is bullshit. I'm lucky to write for @baseballprospectus.com, where they let me publish a paragraph like this in a Rays season preview. www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article...

Intercropping is one of the ways to sustainably use farm land. The microclimate formed helps to reduces soil water loss, reduce soil heat, and allows for the use of available space. 🌱🧑🏿‍🌾🇰🇳 📸 #The_Eco_Spiritual_Experience

Just had a tornado warning (we're fine, nothing touched down) and it reminded me of the last time we actually had one touch down about 7 or 8 years ago and someone took out an ad in the local paper a few days later.

Immensely useful (and terrifying) thread:

Nothing fancy here just some costco quinoa, golden delicious squash we grew last fall, herby pan sauce, and some arugula from the greenhouse. Quick, healthy, mostly plant-based weeknight dinner 🌱🍽️🍜

True story: when my older boys were little, they both got whooping cough even though they were vaccinated. It was bad. We asked the pediatrician what would’ve happened if they hadn’t been vaccinated. They would’ve died, he said. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

A thing that people not yet disabled don't get, is that being disabled is a full time job. Endless paperwork and deadlines and bureaucratic minutia to process and navigate and stress over, etc

I know there’s a lot of other stuff going on right now, but if you like content focused on building a better future for food, agriculture, nature, and/or climate, you might want to follow these folks:

Even if our new secretary of health & human services doesn't think pasteurization is necessary we still trust the science of killing bacteria in our fresh goat milk to keep ourselves from vomiting and shitting everywhere. #SmallFarmLife

Oh, sure, those are totally not critical medications and going off them cold-turkey has no well-known negative side effects /s (JFC please let me get my refills next month.)

Scrolling through Bluesky and seeing a lot of beautiful photographs and artwork. Please add Alt text to your images, many of us will not repost without it. Adding #AltText is not only the inclusive thing to do, your posts will reach a much wider audience. Thank you. 🪶🌱🐡 🦑🌿🐸 #Photography #Art

Best feed on this place!

If you see this, post a photo of your cat(s)! (With alt text!) Doug passed a couple years back, but even in his old age he would muster up the strength to climb onto the back of the couch to catch some rays.

Unsurprising to anyone who knows me or my spouse, but our babies are printing out punny Valentine cards from NSF's website (at least while it still exists 😭)

Alright, even though I hate the snow, it does make for a nice, peaceful picture. I'm ready for the spring though.

~1/3 of food produced each year is lost or wasted between farm & fork. >700 million people face chronic hunger. It's a tragedy that these two shocking global food statistics exist. Here's an example of them explicitly linked together.
