It was such a satisfying main event!

A very satisfying emotional ending to his story of going for the title.

Goto and ZSJ killed it. Such a phenomenal match

This show was the exact kind of wrestling I love. Lots of great matches, young guys elevated and returned, and an underrated wrestler finally gets his big win. Tremendous show.

Tremendous work, as always, Jim.

She names Michael Hayes in another part too. It is so beyond disgusting.

I remember you mentioning that in the Observer slack channel (I write there too!) Just plain sucks.
comment in response to post
It sure is. There is absolutely no way to read that without thinking that. A damning, disturbing read.

It is so ugly, Jim. Damning is the only word I can use for it.

Honestly, that might work against him, given WWE's usually not inviting folks from the Observer to press stuff. That said, worth a shot. Also, I am from Cape Breton too! Small world!

Correct. "Guy wants to be the best in the world and win the world title" really isn't too complicated. Heck, even the Bloodline, WWE's best story, is not complicated. It's about who wants to rule the family. Simple stories are often better, but these are the folks that thing wrestling is cinema lol

I think he is confusing "complex characters" with long term angles and storylines lol

The lack of production meetings is baffling. Makes me wonder if they are afraid of finishes leaking or something if someone knows everything that is going on. If that is the reason, that is dumb. If it is something else, it is still dumb. We could also have crew shut down the dumb SE style stuff.

Just when we thought it was over, Abbey is out here scamming folks again.

I'm not entirely sure they have any lol

And I wanted to reword what I said in a way that was kinder.

Well, the idea that it was about dodging was a total myth. But I felt it appropriate to delete the post because I had more complete information.

This segment was about as “AEW” a segment could be. Exactly what I watch these shows for. It was tremendous. A massive brawl, babyfaces on fire, and heels forced to back down. Perfect. Even better that the babyface beat the heels 4 on 2. That is how it is done.

It was less about dodging. Culturally, a backhanded slap was considered an insult. Offering the other cheek to be hit is forcing the striker to slap with the palm. More on it here: bibleproject.com/articles/wha...

It is quite clear that Ospreay and Omega should be at the top of the card.

Kenny Omega & Will Ospreay. There. Did it justice! 😆

Me too. We need more kindness and left grifters. In life and wrestling.

Tony is very kind, even to people who are not. It is a rather admirable quality, I think. Refreshing in wrestling, to be honest.

To be fair, that one sided crushing was awesome hahahaha

You aren’t wrong at all on that last point. It is so sad.

This kind of stuff is EXACTLY why I watch AEW. Personal feuds, and guys wanting to be the best just fighting. No nonsense old school wrestling booking.

I have not! I will check it out though. I am a Christian myself. Theologically conservative (moderate politically, which makes me left leaning these days), but very much so disturbed by the far right. It really scares me how much they distort Christianity and turn it towards a political agenda.

Missed you too man! Everything is good here. Busy, but I'm glad to be away from the ole Twitter machine to a much better experience haha.

And he consistently speaks against this Trump cult.

Russell Moore, a conservative pastor, was criticized by a MAGA person in his church for preaching “turn the other cheek” and “love your neighbour.” He said they were disagreeing with the words of Jesus himself. The guy responded “We don’t need that weak stuff.” Moore was horrified.
