You know that feeling when you've been hoping to see a specific bird, 5 years into backyard birding, and while I love my regular Downy Woodpeckers, I finally got my first Hairy Woodpecker on video. Here is a male Hairy enjoying some suet before a Blue Jay unintentionally scares him off. #birds

Happy Thursday! This morning, north GA was surprised by some beautiful snow flurries for a few hours. Here is my state bird, the beautiful Brown Thrasher, looking for unsalted peanuts. Fun fact: These guys are capable of singing 1,100 different songs, including imitations of other birds! #birds

Happy Valentine's Day! These two beautiful Blue Jays are frequent guests at my feeder. I love the array of blues in their plumage, accented by a soft lavender wash against their stark white underbellies and striking black collar. #birds

Happy Thursday! After two days of rain, the sun has returned to Georgia! Here is one of my favorite migrators, the Hermit Thrush. Their diet usually consists of berries and insects, but this little guy likes to occasionally treat himself to unsalted peanuts and suet. #addbirder
