Of course! I knew she did NYCM but I didn’t realize she was here too. I don’t use my real name for writing/contests but I mention it on my writing website so I was like “It’s POSSIBLE this is me…” Hi @jenniferquail.bsky.social !

I usually have at least two books going at the same time - a "vegetables" book that I know is good for me and a "cake" book that is light and fluffy and easy.

This is my first one so I’m not sure how it goes. It seems like you’re flying through judging! Are you likely to announce the results early?

It seems like I write everything in the last 48 hours, even when I have a week or more to write. Good luck!

😆 I have gotten started, but I’m not quite sure where it’s going yet.

I'm kind of glad the peer-judged ones overlap with the pro-judged ones, so that we don't have to spend months just watching the counter tick up.
I've got sci-fi / legacy / gourmand for NYCM SSC. Fortunately my husband has consumed a lot of sci-fi and has been helping with ideas.

I’m writing a sci-fi story for the #NYCMidnight #ShortStoryChallenge2025 and next up will be #WritingBattle flash fiction in February.

2-3 contests this month, depending on whether I make it to the final round of @nycmidnight.bsky.social's #RhymingStoryChallenge. So... hopefully 3!

It's great when the hyperfocus lands on something productive like work or writing! Less great when it lands on creating a spreadsheet for fun when actual stuff needs to get done. (Don't ask about my fun spreadsheet to work ratio this week.)
