If you visit Japan pick up these multipack COVID and influenza antigen tests. 4-pack from Amazon JP 1200 yen is $7.64. The equivalent from Amazon US is $40.

You can’t imagine how many lives your donations are saving. These are family friends serving in the ZSU from the 154th Brigade. They felt completely defeated and unable to continue their work. Now thanks to you, they have these excavators and cranes and the position sites buzzing with activity.

One of the biggest lessons from Syria is that, just a month ago, almost no one could have predicted the Assad regime would fall today. The "realities on the ground" crowd would have denied such a possibility. A reminder of why people in Ukraine fight rather than surrender.

OpenWRT had a vulnerability in their build system. OpenWRT is great but imagine if it had reproducible builds like Guix, Nix, or Debian? Trusting signatures from a centralized build system just doesn't cut it anymore. www.phoronix.com/news/OpenWrt...

Android 15 QPR1 December 2024 update on Pixel 6+ now has the option to stop charging at 80%. If you keep your battery between 30-80% it will keep healthy for years longer.

August Smart Locks are wayyy down in price but they last only 3 months with non-rechargeable CR123a batteries? No thanks.

I'm trying to find a USB C Ethernet adapter you can buy off Amazon reliable with Linux. Both Amazon Basics and UGreen seem to be absolute junk. Both appear as usb_ncm to the kernel. Basics works but flakes out requiring replug. UGreen doesn't recognize a cable is plugged. Any USB C with rtl8152?

The scale of curtailment is staggering. In CAISO in 2022, 2.4 million MWh of utility-scale wind and solar were curtailed, a 63% increase over 2021. At the average rate for electricity in California of $0.33/kWh, that’s a $800(!) billion loss. #energysky www.renewableenergyworld.com/wind-power/c...

I joined Bluesky 4 days ago and I have already gone over 10K followers. I am already getting more impressions and more engagement on Bluesky than on Twitter with my 42K followers there. Elon has been screwing with us all the last two years.

Impressive. Fedora 41's DNF package manager is *wayyyyy* faster. It seems to be smarter with parallel downloads and upgrading packages somehow also goes faster.

Vaccines work, actually

Has Bluesky considered allowing longer posts in the future?

With support from the federal government and intense interest from big tech companies, the US is about to do something unprecedented: restart up to three previously shuttered reactors. Here's how to bring a dead nuclear power plant back to life: www.vox.com/climate/3835... 🔌💡
