Wikipedia, on the author of this poem Martin Niemöller:
"Niemöller was a national conservative and initially a supporter of Adolf Hitler[4] and a self-identified antisemite."
This revered poem came from one of Hitler's early supporters!
Unfortunately, he spent 1938-45 in Sachsenhausen & Dachau.
