#Helene ERO verif from @NWSWPC : "High risk around 8UTC 9/25 (48 h lead time) as it continued to become apparent rainfall from PRE/Helene would have significant overlap, increasing conf. of catastrophic event. This is the 3rd longest High risk lead time for a TC since 2017."

For those interested the @NOAA National Hurricane Center has released their #Helene Tropical Cyclone Report. Got some reading to do t.co/BvWd87SXgn

“It was a bust” Nope. Multiple significant tors and fatalities occurred with at least 37 tornado reports so far. Just because you didn’t get your disaster porn in a heavily populated area doesn’t mean the forecast was a bust. Some of y’all need therapy.

Compounding the severe threat tomorrow is the potential for flash flooding in the Mid-South. In collaboration with WFOs in the region, WPC has issued a Moderate Risk (level 3/4) in southern TN, northern AL, northeast MS, and northwest GA for Saturday.

A tornado outbreak - Level 5-High risk is expected tomorrow (Saturday March 15) across parts of MS/AL. Strong to violent, long-track tornadoes will be possible, in addition to significant damaging gusts and large hail. Intense storms are possible across the broader region from LA to TN to GA.

Been watching the game and I really like Schwellenbach as a pitcher. His command is exceptional & has been getting 0-2 counts all game. That's why as soon as I saw that first pitch go behind Abrams I thought "yep, that was very much intentional".

Me when I watch the Bluey episode "Cricket"--

WPC initiated Key Messages for what will be an expansive winter storm producing a myriad of weather hazards this week. The images focus on the winter & wind hazards.

Up to at least 14 flood-related fatalities from this event…

Impactful weather is forecast tomorrow (Feb 15) from the Lower MS Valley to Ohio Valley. Widespread severe storms (damaging gusts & tornadoes) & flooding are expected. Have multiple ways to receive warnings, especially at night. A NOAA weather radio is a great, inexpensive way to get warnings.

Looking to next Tues-Wed winter storm potential: one of the reasons for an increasing signal on guidance is the agreement on strong ridges in AK/east of Greenland & potent troughs south of Greenland & in the western U.S. These anchor points provide some synoptic-scale stability.

Snow squall moving through at the office! Visibility down to about 400 feet with gusts to 40 mph.

The NFL postseason ends, pre-Super Bowl, with the only team that got road wins being the Washington Commanders.

Bills can't give them the ball back here. Whether it be a game-tying FG or a TD, there needs to be zeros on the clock.

Philly is so damn talented. This game exposed Washington's weaknesses & limitations after years of poor drafting. But given the Giants woes & the Cowboys doing...well, Cowboys things...it'll be Washington & Philly for a little while at least.

The only positive- and I mean ONLY positive based on what ive watched, is Washington has been trailing with comebacks all year. All things considered, 12 points down keeps them in it. But no points on the next drive is crucial.

What a busy set of 7 nights. From heavy snow in the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast, to lake effect snow bands & then across the South for a historic storm. A shoutout to all the ROCs & WFOs that collaborated with us & the forecasts to their partners. You all did great work.

Winter has no chill with this active of a pattern... well, it actually does have "chill", but you see it's... nvm, you get my point.

Winter is very much hitting it's stride this week. Introduced a new set of Key Messages for the Northeast winter storm potential Sunday into Monday.

Here are the latest Key Messages from WPC for the impending Arctic Blast this weekend and into next week.

Starting night 1 of 7 on the winter desk tonight. Lots of paths this set could take in terms of winter storm potential, from very active to maybe one legit system. But one thing is high confidence--

For the first time since I was a freshman in high school, my team is in the divisional round. The rest of this postseason is playing with house money. "Why not us?" That's what I'm telling them if I'm DQ.

55 degrees probably feels amazing to the Commanders after the cold weather they've dealt with the past 3 weeks.

Getting light snow in parts of northern MD as we are caught between 850mb FGEN in central VA & 700mb FGEN in central PA. That 700mb in particular sports a deep DGZ & increasingly saturated RH area. It's making for an area of subsidence along the Mason-Dixon & southern PA for now

The swath of Winter Storm Warnings continues, now grow stretching from western Kansas to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.

WSSI's close up look of the DC/Baltimore area for the event.

ECMWF EFI is now showing >0.95 in parts of northern Kansas and northern Missouri. Looking at an exceptional & highly disruptive winter storm in this area

Here's the latest WPC Key Messages from our overnight shift.

Been working on these Key Messages as part of my job at work on the dayshift the last few days. Although I'm off this weekend, I'll try to make sure these are shared on Bluesky each time they are issued

Situational awareness tools, like NAEFS, do a great job highlighting the anomalous setup of the impending winter storm. These factors provide added confidence in a storm that will bring impactful winter weather. Over the next 46-60 hours, the mesoscale factors will key in on which areas.

Can't recall a time in recent memory (maybe the event in central VA a few years back?) when I saw the ECMWF EFI put out that kind of usual snow signal over the Mid-Atlantic.

Here are the latest Key Messages regarding the impending winter storm this weekend and into early next week.

Sharing WPC's first set of Key Messages for this weekend's winter storm to Bluesky.

Washington needs to score a TD bad to start the second half. Atlanta should be doing nothing but running the ball every play in the second half.

Welp, gotta have a short memory. Jayden never saw him.

Lucked out on an illegal man down field...but hey, we'll take the TD where we can!

This is the most Vikings football I've watched all year. That's a different & better Sam Darnold.

Still looking at this evolving setup beyond day 10 as a potentially bigger storm along the East Coast. Obviously the details will change this far out. But the signals on ensembles remain steadfast on the potential at this range.

Jayden with a comeback win and DC gets the RFK site. One of the biggest weeks for DC football in... man idk how long.

A chance at redemption, Jayden.

Commanders down 7 at half despite 3 awful turnovers? I'll take that.
