it's been a lot of work, but my current project is just about at a playable prototype! I'm so glad I can just game dev all day, though obviously a lot of that time is spent doing it for my job. especially excited because the game is basically just some menus, so mechanically it's almost done!

making a game about my game dev process is very VERY introspective. like I'm realizing that yeah, I have as much fun working on other peoples games as I do working on my own. BUT the required hours for work make it more draining imo, not the work itself

my childhood dog is losing her hearing :( it's really bittersweet that she gets to have nice quiet days and peaceful naps whenever she wants, but she's losing a little bit of the outside world and that's just so sad I'm glad she's happy and doing well at least but this makes me really sad

I ended up reworking a huge chunk of the codebase and it took less time than I spent trying to make that function work and I had more fun because I was making progress :) i should've taken a break and reevaluated like 2 hours in, huh. lesson learned

rough coding day. I was just bashing my head against my code trying to get a unity netcode function to work in my defense, troubleshooting one function seemed easier than reworking my entire codebase, but after 6 hours of almost no progress I think I gotta bite the bullet here gamedev is rough
