AAAA!! This traveled way outside my bubble. TY BSky!
Hi hiii! I'm Zeni. I do VR avatar stuff mostly. I'm behind with taxes this month if you wanna help me survive. https://ko-fi.com/zenithval
Not much! The hardest part over ~3 hours was making the masks for all of the individual stocks. I used sampleImage() to map the opacity of each to pixels on Bad Apple.
I've never seen such a clear visualization of economics. We live in a huge fractal! Thank you for all your work creating this, especially the heartbreak of a frequently crashing AE.
it's popular to write code that plays this video on every possible computer, including 40+ year old machines that require clever work to produce full-screen video. here it is on a 1MHz Commodore 64 from 1982 https://youtu.be/OsDy-4L6-tQ?si=a5cCJMO0RExCTyN8
I've done a number of ports myself to various retro devices, and also this version where I texture mapped it onto a Mandelbrot zoom... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yt5pN7M3XDY
So, when he brings the tariffs back, those with stocks don’t sell this time, those with the funds buy low when he tweets then wait since he will pause again. At which point sell high, then rinse & repeat the next time he does this until his criminal ass gets impeached? Is this the new capitalism?
I use bluesky muted and I was legitimately confused by how you managed to arrange all these stocks such that they were rising and falling contiguously in these strange patterns.
Why do color changes always appear in clusters that move throughout the diagram? What makes the cluster move across the diagram in such an organic manner?
Could be that the stocks are arranged with neighbors in categories, tech at upper left, banking at mid right, etc. etc. so when categories of business are going in and out of favor with the news, neighboring blocks are flipping green/red.
On the other hand, I could be utterly, completely wrong.
It probably is, but what determined the proximity / order of the different categories in the chart? After all they "guessed" right and the neighboring categories seem to interact with one another.

Thank you everyone!
To finally finish this off, I completed the 2nd half:

I understand it has something to do with stocks but that's about as far as it gets for me.

I used the before and after images of the recent stock crash to make a Bad Apple edit. ~ https://bsky.app/profile/cattyfae.bsky.social/post/3lmhblzcab22e
Each of the stocks n headers were assigned some pixels on the video.

fairly famous video for "being able to play on anything", and people making it happen in weird yet creative ways
like by literally lighting up a physical circuit board, or by shaping arcs in tesla coils
