Sending an email to employees asking them to list five things they did that week is a classic move from a manager who has no idea how to manage

I know y'all love your iPhones, but my Android puts all those political texts in my spam folder automatically. I literally would not know they exist were it not for iPhone users complaining about them.

Just got the Waymo interest list on the Uber app and the way they phrase it, it sounds like you might not have the choice to only go with Waymo. That would stink. I've had too many bad human rideshare drivers to risk it unless it's a last resort.

Bluebonnets among other weeds. The bluebonnets are obvious because they have a giant drop of water nestled in their leaves.

One of my favorite things about bluebonnets is you can see them from afar, because they catch and hold onto gigantic water droplets.

Trump and Musk are sabotaging the US because they are Russian agents.

I got inspired to try out a new (to me) plant - Texas Hog Plum. And the seeds have germinated! xeric.me/xericfrontya...

It's been a tough week. Here's the "Bike Song" video from Mark Ronson & The Business international. One of the greatest pro-urbanism and cycling propaganda videos from Big Bicycle. youtu.be/rVELTxKRoHA?...

The best way to fight back against Musk: Don’t buy a Tesla. (And if you own one, sell it.) The company was already in a precarious position before Musk launched his assault on democracy. A Tesla boycott would be devastating – and richly deserved. Me, in Slate 🧵

So Trump didn't institute those tariffs today did he? Just lies and hot air.

So does the US military oath work hierarchically like Asimovs robotic rules? Does defending the Constitution override obeying presidential orders?

Just a reminder we control the narrative on social media. Most of Trump's strength up to now has been people repeating that he's strong out of fear. We can change the narrative by driving home his weakness and failures. This is what social media is good at.

Imposing tariffs, walking them back, then trying to impose them again in a single week. Has there ever been a weaker President?

Just saw a farmer say, "you don't have to admit you were wrong, you have to admit you were lied to, " and idk that seems like a good framing to call people in

It's amazing to me after riding in a Waymo that Tesla's investors aren't demanding they copy Waymo's additional sensors. How is Tesla's autopilot that fundamentally different from the lane departure in my 5 year old Honda?

I'm also scared about the fact the Supreme Court is Catholic and the legislature is Protestant. Historically this has not been a recipe for unity and peace.

Why is Stassney East of IH35 still 40mph when it has the same number of lanes as the West side and more homes fronting the road?

All of me thinks this. Therapy y'all. Dudes, pickup bell hooks' "The will to change"

Waymo changes the route so that the car is facing the correct direction to park to pick you up. No wild Uber 6 Lane u-turns.I really wish Google maps had that as an optional feature.

Just took my first two Waymo rides to the grocery store and bank. Hard to overstate how smooth and safe it was. I definitely don't think they will lead to less congestion, but I think our tolerance for human driver recklessness and mistakes will change drastically.

The government has no right to decide what name or nickname your child goes by in class. The government has no right to pick out what clothes your child wears to school. This is not just an attack on trans children. It's an attack on personal choice. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/30/u...

"You may have thought this was just about gender studies professors, blue-haired student activists, and #MeToo harridans. Well, think again, because the attack is ultimately on the separation of powers and the idea of equality before the law." adriandaub.substack.com/p/this-is-wh...

Being trans is a joy and a gift! Some folks are trying to take away that joy! We will not let them! We will become even more trans and more joyful as time goes on!

This should be Democrats' attack. He literally said he would not do these unpopular things and he lied to the American public to win election.

Trump does not have a mandate to do what he's doing and he lied to voters. “I know nothing about Project 2025,” Trump said in Friday’s post. “I have no idea who is behind it.. I have nothing to do with them.” www.forbes.com/sites/cailey...

weird that trump didn't campaign on all of the incredibly unpopular things that turned out to be his immediate policy priorities

A soft, small, hopeful thing.

an example of why the loud internet mob should be ignored. someone I know who hadn't even seen it told me she heard it was bad because they tried to "make it diverse." to which I said, "have you actually seen it?!" it was a great show. it showed things are always gray and rarely black and white.

It's amazing to me people are talking about learnings from this election. We had an ally of the US prolong a war to damage a sitting president's reputation to support his chosen candidate who would allow him to seize real estate the previous administration would never grant him.

Therapy has helped me a lot. One thing I've learned is to focus on the amazing things that happen each day. The sun. Pets. The love of family and friends. The political harm is real and it's happening, but being able to enjoy *today* is something that hasn't been taken yet and we should embrace it.
