Yeah. That definitely worries me. The Waymo's were driving around my neighborhood for like a year with no one in them as well.

Tesla is in my neighborhood in SE Austin training - just running constant loops. They've gotten better, but they still have human supervisors. You can tell they're never going to be as good as Waymo with vision-only.

Rooms to Go has a thing called a Bunkie board that is basically this idea, but in a form that is less likely to fall apart in the middle of the night. I have not had to come up with new hacks to fix my son's bed since we got him one.

I feel like I need to know how it works to talk from an educated perspective. Sometimes it does some cool stuff for me with just minor edits. But mostly it just feels like I've got a Jr Dev that I need to somehow encourage to find a job in another field.
