I am begging the people saying ‘it will take generations to rebuild the US’ to read one (1) history of the New Deal. We decided to have Social Security and an Episcopal woman who went to Mass every day just…made it happen.

If you're in Texas -- please consider participating!

the entire conservative project is now completely on board with the hyperventilating online chud notion that reporting on someone doing something newsworthy is a form of nefarious "doxxing"

Personal liberty for whom? I guarantee it'll just reify the power of the oligarchs. It certainly won't defend the liberty of trans people to be themselves but rather the so called "liberty" to harass them.

I was "volunteered" to join yet another AI task force, this time on integrating it into instruction and operations. I've decided to just repeat "what problem would this solve" over and over again to make them admit they're trying to devalue our labor

I'm sorry but I'm just not going to be cowering in fear of these clowns. They suck and they are cruel but they are not God.

If you still have friends/family who think this administration will help them, talk to them about money....

Just a reminder that fascists, authoritarians, dictators of all stripes destroy archives— books, museums, databases, &c— because those things provide windows onto a plurality of other ways we might organize the world. And so preserving, defending, and spreading that knowledge harms those regimes.

fantasizing about a world where an opposition congress responds to trump’s attempts to usurp legislative power by defunding the entire white house staff

Why can't we run the government like a business? Because "move fast and break stuff" isn't a cool edgy business plan when the stuff being broken is tens of thousands of human lives.

This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”. This is a manifesto against disability. This is the language of eugenics.

This has been going on with education for a long, long time at state and local levels

As the expected Christian Nationalism EO came in, I’m seeing a bunch of “this isn’t real Christianity” noise in my mentions. Nope. Christian friends. 1/x 🧵 This is 💯 part of the history of Christianity, dating to Constantine, to the Holy Roman Empire, forced conversions, Inquisitions, +

America started doing concentration camps in only 2 weeks

Neither "we told you so" nor "welcome" is the right response. We need to ask, "ok, so then what are you going to do about it?" A change of heart requires a change in action, too. Feeling guilty or pleading ignorance is not enough. Now that they know better, how are they going do better?

Jesus: Love your neighbor us: Who exactly is this "neighbor?" Jesus: Anyone in need us: What? Jesus: or if you prefer, your enemy Us: Come again Jesus: see this is why I tell stories and parables, once upon a time someone was going on a trip and was set upon by thieves

“Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan.” -Isaiah 10:1-2

Can you imagine how us library school grads – who literally earned graduate degrees in information – feel right now? Between the librarians being told they're evil and dealing with book bans to the archivists *waves* and records managers who SAW BOXES FULL OF CLASSIFIED DOCS IN THE BATHROOM... 😵‍💫🤯😫

The idea JD Vance is putting around that churches make money by resettling refugees is false, and I suspect he knows it’s false. It costs money to resettle folks. The govt pays a lot of those costs. But it’s basically a pass-through. And resettlement agencies make up what the govt doesn’t cover.

When I see people with this take, it's completely maddening. As if *children* can just jump on Amazon or drive to their nearest B&N or Half Price Books. As if all parents across the board are picking up the slack in educating their children that racism *exists*, much less that it's bad, actually

So how’s it going so far?

I will again tap the sign that I hate how much of the pro-immigrant anti-ice rhetoric still seems to boil down to "its actually good that we have a system where undocumented people can be exploited and treated like wage slaves for cheaper broccoli"

"His body is vigorous. His mind is childish. His soul has been almost completely neglected."

Neither here nor there, but I do wonder how the response to Bishop Budde's sermon would be different if it had been delivered by a man. I'm seeing a lot of overt and covert gendered critiques, which is just a reminder to me, once again, that people really hate women in powerful positions!

Note: The person giving the sermon in question is Bishop Mariann Budde, the Episcopal Bishop of Washington. Rep. Collins is suggesting deporting a U.S. citizen and bishop for delivering a sermon in a house of worship in accordance with her faith.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.
