Thank you for speaking up on this despite being on the other side of table. This sums up a major problem of the corporate culture we live in: the excessive rewards for the top executives and the squeeze on the hard working mass.

I am not expert in this topic. I simply point out that there are comprehensive recent papers that make a different conclusion based on thermodynamics.

I don’t think the two papers are quite “authoritative” in their “physical chemistry” explanations

and pka(H+aq) = 0. It will be interesting to see how long it takes untilthe incorrectvalues are completely eradicated from both text-books, high school and undergraduate chemistry courses…

To cite Togni’s paper : By way of a conclusion, it is comforting that the authoritative J of the American Chemical Society has recently taken up the issue in one of itsJACSVideo Bytes, unmistakably explaining that the correctvalues at stake are pKa(H2O) = 14

It might be quite theatrical for a debate between Antonio Togni and Singleton

Congratulations to Ariana, our lead author. Grateful to collaborators Prof. Haoming Chen and his group for the operando study.

Still early days of bluesky so engagement is less. Need to build more audience. As I try to learn some entrepreneurial knowledge in Linkedin, I see army of Elon and Zuck worshipers and wanna bes who will trade moral value for being rich. It is probably a better reflection of the world we live in.

There is something for everyone: coordination chemistry, enantioselective reactions, protein engineering, biocatalysis, QM-MM, protein structure ...

Congrats to Weijin Wang for leading this project and thanks to our collaborators including @klausenhauser.bsky.social and the group of Tom Ward in Basel. Due to tough negotiations of Swiss Universities with Wiley it is not yet gold open access but hopefully soon.

Thanks for the sharing. I was intrigued how one could determine the IQ of Romans so I went to read the original paper. And they said they used modern epidemiological linkage between childhood blood lead level and IQ by a previous study of modern children. Not sure how rigorous that can be #chemsky

Somehow “we” have so well educated our students that their dreams are to have the most vacations. I heard some VPs in some universities preached to newly arrived students to not forget about taking time away from studying to have fun, because university is also about soft skill 😃

Hi Manuel, Happy New Year! You can use Decimer.ai by Christoph Steinbeck & team. Simply copy the structure from a screen or PDF, paste it into Decimer to get the SMILES, and then paste the SMILES into ChemDraw. #ChemSky

I guess those two revisions have a hard time focus in Xmas dinners.

Did I leave that field too early😂 ?nice that it did not prove our earlier hypothesis is wrong… a former postdoc of my group and a former student of Seigo will carry on

Did you send out a bunch of evil emails to submitted authors this afternoon, the Friday afternoon before Xmas?

I feel « every engineer in the field » is a bit over-reaching. Anyway, we are all entitled to own opinions. I just find always celebrating the failures of people who seriously work on a potential cleantech technology a malicious practice- I am of course not referring to you.

Of course Wiley like most publishers is guilty as vampire. I think all universities in the world should unite to get it to the ground. But why do I feel more offended by our internal “newsletter”?

In an era when our funding agency prohibits us to send them a publication list, I should not care about freedom of publishing right? #chemsky maybe I am too arrogant but every time an admin office claims they have power to disrupt our work I still gets upset

I like it when you label it “breaking news”…after many similar announcements in paris in the past. btw, how many universities are in toulouse?

Thanks for speaking up. Years back I used to follow some academics from that country in twitter. I had to disfollow because these self-claims liberals clearly have double standards of whose lifes are important. I wonder why occidentals cannot acknowledge all lifes are important. Is it religion?

I read the analysis and I think their conclusions are not supported by their data. Just look at difference of Dec and Jan citation number. So obviously better to hold off dec pubs for the next year. Also using pub date is not convincing because IF is based on issue dates.
