Awesome! Part of my rationale is that temp hp is usually in less than 20 amounts and so it just reflects that the temp hp is a temporary addition of ablative hp and so if a caster gets hit with some nickel and dime damage that only affects the temp hp then cool all good still

I have been playing with the 2014 rules. I have not read the 2024 rules so I don't know what all they entail but I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

So for example if a caster is maintaining a bless spell and they currently have 5 temp hp. They then take 5 damage from a wolf bite. As the only damage they suffered was temp hp, they do not have to roll to maintain concentration.

But yeah the idea is to put more mechanical decision making into the process of which companion they choose and add more intrinsic benefit aside from having a 5th person to help them in their battles.

or the paladin would give Heroic Sacrifice allowing for when an ally takes damage another ally can choose to redirect the damage to themselves instead and if they do they get advantage on their next attack roll until the end of their next turn. Etc

Each passive is shaped by that character and their theme: for example Omega the nanomachine swarm monk would give something like Reactive Adaptation where any ally can as a reaction give themselves damage resistance to a damage source they took that turn until the end of their next turn.

Some changes I have so far: 1. Adapt things for Morgan Effect retcon 2. Make the Templars more Arthurian and Knights of the Round themed 3. Add a Caesars Legion faction 4. Start transitioning from true wasteland trope to more building civilizations instead

I like the downtime between sessions to be when next steps are sorted out and planned so that the actual session can be continual progress or rp.

So like I propose adventure ideas and ask people if they want to do that and discuss how to make adventures with their plot points and what we ultimately agree on becomes the set plot points along the way. I like it as it reduces decision paralysis by getting consent ahead of time.

Lol in my made up goblinoid language it means Clan of Clans and was thr goblinoid homeland b3fore it was destroyed. A Ro-yen then is the Clan Lord. Ro is the term for clan and by association also the term for goblinoid culture as a whole (derived from how the Russian word Mir is used)
