It feels like an important time to be closer to my community, but damn it if we haven’t structured ourselves in a way that I’m missing local events because I’m not on Facebook or instagram.

I’m off meta, but I’m struggling with some of the local social aspects. Local bands, farmers market vendors, events, shows, auditions. Even marketing my own band- or my band mates doing so because I don’t have access to the Facebook page they made.

Quirky.

I’ve found myself having actual conversations with people- in person, phone call, or via text- to keep up on local happenings. I seek out information I want rather than what’s shoved in my face. I’m reading more. I feel less social pressure and might be a bit of a hermit for a while. And that’s ok!

I see no problem here.

Honest question- how do I keep up on local events, small businesses, etc. without meta? I’ve started subscribing to more newsletters for things that are important to me…but I feel like I’m going to miss so much if/when I jump.
