it's very frustrating, outside of Perpetual Car Hell things are on a general upswing for us. partner got a job with a raise, roommate got a new job, i'm back to work doing ui/ux testing, we just can't get past this fucking car setting us back for six months now

there's also way too many cutscenes. like not too many for an average game but too many for a doom game. they got this right in 2016 but for some reason they just keep going further and further in on it. I've never met this "Desperate For More Doom Lore" gamer that id seems convinced is out there

on the downside tho, while the environments are gorgeous and decently varied the arenas themselves feel pretty nondescript so far, generally just "big wide open room/area". encounter design also can feel a bit more quantity over quality with a lot of "tons of cannon fodder and 4-8 Big Guys" fights
