There is a critical reflection in the literature if that helps: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

If you think you're Autistic, you likely are. Given long wait times and privileged access to diagnosis in the UK, self-identifying is reasonable, also for those who don't want a formal label. Social media has allowed people to connect with lived experiences, helping them identify themselves.

I completely understand this. Microsoft Teams, bright wall colours, chairs too close together, no clocks anywhere, echoey spaces, inconsistent speaking etiquettes, not following rules succinctly, a lack of clear and coherent instructions, harsh lighting, no reminders about anything, PDF documents!

I wonder if Dr Georgia Pavlopoulou has seen this article? It's closely linked to Georgia's work that explores Autistic children and young people and their sleep.

Thank you Ann, I saw this article this morning and it's on my 'to read' list. A recommendation from you means I don't need therapy before reading it! Much appreciated ☺️ (a wide smile).

Amazing, I'll be having an iced latte please. Not yet though. It's still cold in Wales.

b) - I have an extreme intolerance of uncertainty.

Thank you, that's kind of you to say. Thank you for the original point as it's powerful lived experience and why researchers, etc. should try to avoid sweeping generalisations about Autistic people who are heterogenous just as those who are not autistic are.

I think the main thing between some Autistic individuals in a UK context, is possibly a certain level of understanding between them. If not understanding, then a lack of damaging judgements. However, this is highly contextual with implicit racial biases, etc. converging just as they do in society.

#PlayMatters A child's lived experience is embodied in play, it matters because it represents a way of being in the world at that time, and in a specific context.

That's good to hear. 🙂

English is my first language and I have the same issue, not a clue no matter how many times I read the word in context. It's Dyslexia with me. Same with lose, loose, etc.

Navigate your way around by feeling and remembering the movements. Learn to recognise people by their bodily movements and gestures. Repeat yourself because the sounds of the words feel good. Eat the same thing day in day out without getting bored.

Can't start work, then can't stop work and can't stop in the middle of something and do something else.

Flow so intense that you are in inertial motion and when disturbed you meltdown. Such high levels of empathy that you feel the pain of others. Always need a companion because loud sounds distrupt your proprioception and vestibular senses. I could go on.

@januszeal.bsky.social Extreme male brain theory 🤬
comment in response to post
Extreme male brain vibes coming from the direction of Professor Sir Simon Baron-Cohen with his gender essentialising systemizing bullshit (2010). I really hope he doesn't migrate over because I'll be blocking him. Sorry to hijack the post but SBC made that association with the maths.

I don't know, sorry.

After I read your post then I can also see the motorcycle person leading the parade. Anyway, the image can be whatever you want it to be.

That's going to keep you busy for a while. Remember to eat and drink mind because encapsulated attention for hours and hours might make you forget.
